I am just ShockShock

Am gutted for her, really gutted.

I mean it was clear when Emilie was found alive that something bad had to happen to Sara, but that...?

Nonononono, Bore, stop that, otherwise I might be tempted to shoot you in the head!

Right, quick, plot for S4:
Lund, a lost fugitive soul, travelling the world on a shoestring, taking menial jobs waaaaay below her capabilities, eventually wins the Paraguayan Football Pools, has extensive plastic surgery to change her appearance including fingerprints, gets new identity. Becomes one woman crime fighting army, pitching herself against violence and organised abuse of women/children. On her travels she hooks up again with Borch and Mark, moves back into her wee house and...

Phew! That should do it.
Surely, that is brilliant. Should I pack in my job and do this full-time?!

Pacific I much prefer your ending. I had never watched any of the Scandi dramas before, but am hooked now. Tried to buy the box sets of The Killing 1and 2 today, but they are not available in Ireland for licensing reasons. Series 1 is on Netflix apparently.

TheFarSide · 16/12/2012 22:57

OP, for those of us who watch TV on catch up, the announcement in your thread title that Sarah Lund did something outrageous pretty much spoiled it for me. You're meant to include the words "spoiler alert" before you give any clues.

More thoughtfulness next time, please.

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/12/2012 01:41

That is a truly brilliant ending Pacific. Clearly, you are wasted in the day job!

IslaValargeone · 17/12/2012 07:22

With regard to why Loke was so intent on getting his daughter's death investigated, it was because he hadn't been around for her while she was alive. He felt it was the least he owed her.
Farside Hmm

PacificDogwood · 17/12/2012 07:54

Apologies to TheFarSide - I thought I had been cryptic enough Blush.

Isla, ok, I understand that. He just took it an eensy-weensy bit far, didn't he? So Louise's death was NOT a suicide and Benjamin's death wasn't either... nice bit of symmetry there.

I do think if you watch tv on catch up then you need to avoid pretty much every form of media if you don't want to find out what happens in something like the finale of the killing.

I still keep thinking about it.

And wasn't it spooky regarding the parallels with child abuse being covered up at the highest levels after all she 'was just an orphan'.

TheFarSide · 17/12/2012 09:45

Apology accepted Pacific.

For those who think I should avoid all media, a nice bland title like the other thread called "The Killing III" would have been fine.

elizaregina · 17/12/2012 21:50

I feel bereft too - MUCH MUCH MUCH PREFER your ending pacific - thought end was ridiculous actually and not belivea ble

MistressIggi · 17/12/2012 22:38
Sad But he sure had it coming.
Shitemum · 17/12/2012 23:12

Did no-one else intuit that Borch is Mark's biological father?

MistressIggi · 18/12/2012 09:46

Surely someone in Special Branch would be able to work out the dates if that was the case?
I now know more about Danish political system than our own Blush

AlexanderS · 18/12/2012 10:44

I watched it on iplayer last night - can't believe it either. Didn't see it coming though - killing her off would have been a bit predictable.

PacificDogwood · 18/12/2012 16:07

Ooooh, Borch as Mark's father!
I don't think the time line works though, shame.

I really cannot imagine how they would bring Lund back from this; certainly not as a police detective. I think that goose is cooked Sad.

I did not see it coming AT ALL - I still cannot really believe it. Of course he had it coming. Even if Emilie's father had killed him, I'd've been able to go with that, but Lund...

StephaniePowers · 18/12/2012 16:12

Her face, sitting in the car as Borch tried to tell her what they'd do... Sad
(It'll never work, Borch.)
SHe is a splendid face actor.

IslaValargeone · 18/12/2012 19:43

It helps that her face still moves.
I think we are so used to seeing the frozen, filler laden faces of Hollywood that we forget how effective facial expression can be.

IAmTellingSanta · 18/12/2012 21:43

Do you think Emilie's father is going to go back on his promises to his wife ?

ItsIgginningToLookALotLikeXmas · 18/12/2012 22:11

Well the nasty bloke at the office certainly wants him to.
It would actually have been worse if PM had handed the photo over, as Sarah would have killed him for nothing (ie he could have gone to jail). Odd he became so gutless though. Power eh.

PacificDogwood · 18/12/2012 22:31

Oh, yes, he is going to go back on his promise to his family.

Politico guy behaved in just the way I have come to expect a politician to behave - power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The photo being handed to the police could have made a difference IF they had been fast and Brix had been very fast in letting Lund know.

Gawd, I need to get a grip: none of this real, none of this is real, these are not real people or real events.

PacificDogwood Lund is out there somewhere, alone and without her MOBILE PHONE, this is not the time to lose it, Get a Grip!

ItsIgginningToLookALotLikeXmas · 19/12/2012 09:10

She could get help through the global network of mumsnetters. We would house her and smuggle her around globe.

PacificDogwood · 19/12/2012 19:42

Lund a MNer, eggsellent Grin

AIBU to feel ALL the men in my life have screwed me over?
S&B: In a rut - any alternatives to chunky knitted jumpers?
Longhaul: Quick answers please - which countries do not extradite to Denmark?
Relationship: Do you think long distance relationships ever work?

She'll miss her granddaughter growing up, Mark will be confirmed in his opinion that she keeps abandoning him (he has a point), Borch will find somebody else to shack up with me - oh crap Sad.

OP posts:
IAmTellingSanta · 19/12/2012 20:28

YABU the men in your life have been there for you. You have commitment issues. What was your relationship with your dad?
I think you could rock a wooly hat in Iceland
Have you considere going to the Ecuadorian embassy?

Borch will somehow make contact with Lund and help her to somehow clear her name?
Although I am a bit afraid the scriptwriters have painted themselves into an impossible corner.

LaVolcan · 20/12/2012 13:48

The scriptwriters wanted to paint themselves into a corner, so that they couldn't bring her back.

Mind you, Conan Doyle tried to kill Sherlock Holmes off but he didn't succeed and had to bring him back, and Agatha Christie got sick and tired of Poirot, but had to keep on with him, so there are precedents. ( Poirot must have been about 122 years old before he was allowed to go.)
