Where did the children actually 'go' while they were shipped off to countryside? It's been baffaling me as did they just go 'out' of the experience for a few days? And if so, who took care of them?!

Hi! thanks for your reply! really interesting to hear your views on the town! I totally agree with you, It is sad to see a town that could be/ once was so fantastic left to decline, even in the 13 years since i have been there it has gone down (the closure of frontierland, totally miss the days of riding on the polo) and slightly up with the midland,

hopefully shows like turn back time should bring people back and hopefully in the future Morecambe should see some investment - hopefully from people who can develop it without ripping out all the character that i love about it! (like you say the lovely old, crazily cheap houses!)

yes I agree! the brick a brack shops are brilliant! You have to be up for a root and good at looking past all the weird stuff, but i?ve had some brilliant finds!! one of the few towns where you can still purchase things for 20p in charity shops!!

Anyway, thanks for your opinion!, lovely to hear, hopefully one day you can re-visit morecambe and it will be as brilliant as it once was!

p.s was also wondering, with the hair and makeup, was it ever done for you or did you have to make sure you had the right period look every day? i loved the bit with the ?fake tan? and the beetroot but for the rest of it could you use modern makeup and hair stuff?

ijgolding · 31/07/2012 09:38

The ladies were always shown how to do their hair and makeup relevant to the period on the morning of the first day of filming - from then on though, they were on their own.

This was particularly tricky in the early episodes - Naomi had to put her hair in curlers every night - after a long day, it makes you think how women back then had the energy to spend an hour doing it!!

Fortunately, things were much simpler for us men!!

u were very lucky to be be picked i wd have loved it as i said before been interested in past things all my life specailly the 50s and 60s wasgoing to ask ian do u know how comes they didnt do it on the 50s

ijgolding · 31/07/2012 16:04

We were lucvky to be picked, and will always be very grateful for the opportunity.

I have no idea why the 50's was missed out to be honest - it is a good question that I never asked!

Hi Ian, I think you and the other families are the greatest. I am a 12 year old boy who is obsessed with this show and watch it every night in bed!
I think all your doing for this is simply amazing.
Do you know when the sixth episode will air and what it's about?
Do you know if they'll release the series on DVD for after they take it off of i-player?*(if they don't please ask them!)
Thanks for reading this!

ijgolding · 01/08/2012 08:39

Thanks for your comments James - it is great that you have enjoyed it so much.

Unfortunately, there is not a sixth episode - the BBC stated there were six in error. In terms of a DVD - the first series (TBT the High Street) had a DVD produced to coincide with the airing of this series. We have been advised that if a DVD is to be made, it would probably only be done so if a third series was produced. There are no plans to do this at the moment.

Someone has been posting clips of the programme on YouTube though, so you can still get your turn back time memories there!

JamesEMcIntyre · 01/08/2012 14:32

Thanks for replying because I was wondering about the sixth episode since everywhere it said the 70's episode was 5/6! That's disappointing but makes sense.
Since my last comment has been posted I've managed to download some episodes so that'll certainly be good to watch back whenever I need to!
As for a proper question though,
I remember in the wartime episode that you made a weapon out of a knife and a broom, was it a pain to make?
What was your first thought when you realised that you would have to take shots of scenes which were only about five seconds long so many times over?
Did Jack enjoy getting to dress up?
Were you looking forward to the prosperity of being a hippie family, before it was rejected?

I think that's about enough for now but thanks for the replies and I can't wait 'till your last blog post about this experience, featuring the other families views, I really enjoyed all the families and couldn't possibly say that there was one I didn't enjoy watching!
Kind regards.

In answer to your questions James:

I remember in the wartime episode that you made a weapon out of a knife and a broom, was it a pain to make? - not really - it was quite easy with string, a broom handle and kitchen knife. Not sure it would have held up in combat though!

What was your first thought when you realised that you would have to take shots of scenes which were only about five seconds long so many times over? - when you are filming the scenes, you have no idea what will be in and what will not, so it never crosses your mind at that stage. It is a little frustrating when you see the final programme - especially when we thought some of the cut scenes were very good!

Did Jack enjoy getting to dress up? we thought he would be a nightmare, but he enjoyed it in the end - especially the shoes!

Were you looking forward to the prosperity of being a hippie family, before it was rejected? we never thought it would actually happen, so did not get our hopes up!!

The final part of my Turn Back Time blog - written by Lisa Rhodes whose family appeared in the 70s episode - is now live.

@ ijgolding - you can actually get this series on DVD, it's been released in Region 4 (Australia)

I found it on sale at www.ezydvd.com.au, but I would recommend eBay, it seems to be about £10-15 cheaper. :)
