I hope that poor boy makes it Sad.

Mine are not allowed on their bikes without their helmets and after an accident the A & E staff said his helmet saved DS1 so he certainly doesn't argue about wearing one.

I could hear my kids still rustling about upstairs when this bit was on and I got them down to watch it. They walways whinge about wearing helmets and I hope this has sent them the message of what could happen if he come off without one. I have just said 'everytime you dont want to wear your helmet, you think about that little boy and what happened to him'.

They have gone to bed now, I hope I havent given them nightmares.

Even if you have that is just one night. You could have just saved their lives.

Dh landed on his head after hitting a car that had jumped the lights at a crossroad. H was going downhill, quite fast. Barrelled over the car and flew for about 20 ft before landing on his head and rolling for a bit. Helmet wad knackered but he was fine. Kids always wear helmets.

Saying tht, ds2 fell head first down our stairs, down first flight and then the second one that's at 90degree angle. :(

He was fine. Had lumps sticking out about an inch on his forehead, one with slightly broken skin as was so swollen. But a&e folk were brill. But I was just thinking about how he managed to be ok, and just a slight difference in the way he fell could have been fatal. Feel that we had a lucky escape.

I really really dislike the guy with the cardi and the bitten nose. Twat.

That bit with the little boy really upset me. My ds has a habit of landing on his head/falling into things head first and I'm sure it has aged me about 10 years each time it has happened. Unfortunately sometimes even if you take all the precautions, it can still happen. Most recently he fell off the top of a slide (a drop of about 5ft) - luckily he landed on his knees and was ok, but programmes like this really make you think....

I've just gone and found my kids helmets. We scoot to school in the morning and never use them as it's such a short distance, we will now. Also been doing longer distances with ds with me running and him scooting. Just went cold thinking about the risks.

MrsBradleyCooper · 04/07/2012 22:36

Oh yes scooting as well. DS came off his micro mini and had concussion. I had bought him a helmet but it was too big so I didn't put it on him.

I think a lot of people think those little scooters are safe because they are so close to the ground, 3 wheels etc but unfortunately I found out otherwise.

I am one of those helicopter mums in the playground but I honestly do not care - DS safety is more important than what people think.

MardyArsedMidlander · 06/07/2012 08:30

Not just you- lastnerve. I really thought he was going to dump her over the phone!

Pharell was the sweetest little boy ever! And the lovely lovely day of the boy who came off the motorbike. When he was stroking his head when they were cleaning the wound, I was in tears...
