Did anyone else end up crying over Waterloo Road?

I am so embarrassed. We have always treated Waterloo Road as a comedy, but last night's story of Grantley and Fleur was so sad.

I've stopped watching as the disjointed series were annoying me. Now I need to know, what happened to Michael after he was run over by bunny boiler lady and what has happened with Grantley and Fleur?!

Fleur died. It was surprisingly moving for Waterloo Road.

I cried as well and DD 14 found it very upsetting.

I made the mistake of watching it; after watching my grandma suffer from alzheimer's over several years and eventually die from a series of strokes, it bought it all back. Still I though it was handled quite well although and rather accurately! Was suprised

I pretty much sobbed from start to end.

It was a good episode, I found it very sad as my mil has Alzheimers.

They got the history wrong though - when the teacher handed out that newsletter with 1984 miners strike on the cover and said "this led to the three day week" - it was the miners strike the decade before that did this!

Yeah it was surprisingly good for waterloo rd

Maybe Waterloo Road has turned a corner and will be more believable..or maybe not.

Yes- I burst into tears at the end when the boy gave him a hug. I had the sniffles when Fleur 'came to' and spoke to him about her memories. It was obvious then she was goingSad

I view 'Waterloo road' as one of my crap guilty pleasures, but I do think they have handled the Grantley/Fleur story really sensitively. It has spanned series, not just happened quickly- as well as showing that marriages can, and do last! (Not something that happens a lot in soap).

Poor GrantleySad

I think Grantley is destined to become a Treasure of Waterloo Road. We've gradually seen him change from Mr Synical to Mr Lover of Literature. I think the story of his love for Fleur has probably been the only one on Waterloo Road that we haven't groaned about.

Yes - I did. Feel exactly the same way - Waterloo road is usually viewed for comedy value but the whole grantley/fleur story has been done really well..
