About how it would stand up now with the benefit issue !

I liked it but I was only 12 when it finished so probably different views watching it now

surely though it was during the last recession between the late 80's and early 90's when things where pretty much like they are now?

HJisthinkingofanewname · 05/02/2012 13:05

There's a much bigger benefit bashing culture now though ( afaik anyway, was too young last time)

Benefit bashing culture is bigger than back then, though benefit culture was alive and kicking and was shared with single mothers scroungers and I think the single mother bashing has declined a little bit to make way for more benefit bashing in general

Loved it - used to be on after Howards Way (which I loved even more!)....

BleurghUna · 05/02/2012 21:43

I loved Bread too. I can still remember the theme tune!

Tooblunt2012 · 05/02/2012 21:44

I loved it too, although was young when it was on the first time so think a lot probably passed me by Grin.

FlyingLugholes · 05/02/2012 21:44

Oh Howards Way - blast from the past! So loved that programme.

CervixWithASmile · 05/02/2012 21:46

I loved it too, but benefit bashing culture, really? Based on MN, I'd say it's the opposite.

PigeonPair · 05/02/2012 22:04

I was totally in love with Charles Frere -sigh..........

FlyingLugholes · 05/02/2012 22:24

Charles Frere

Was 14 when that programme started. Truly believed I would one day live like that - luxury yachts included. And it all came true!

In my dreams.
