hmmm, not convinced. didn't really capture mine (or dp's) imagination. looked nice though!

desperatehousewife · 15/01/2006 22:57

what the f was that all about? Now, I consider myself to be a reasonably educated, reasonably intelligent woman...but was most distressed that I just seemed not to 'get it'. what was the point to it?

unicorn · 15/01/2006 22:59

beautiful cinematography I think dhw!

It was... hmmmm enigmatic?

Good acting and very watchable but I tend to agree with you.

desperatehousewife · 15/01/2006 23:00

I agree - stunning to look at. Didn't think much of her acting - he of course, was brilliant. But still didn't get the point to it.

harpsichordcarrier · 15/01/2006 23:00

aha on my own then
about work and how intense working with someone can be
like a love affair

OP posts:
unicorn · 15/01/2006 23:01

well I've never worked with anyone quite like that!

yes! hurrah
that's it sobernow
about how work had changed over the years
listening to some of the dialogue was excruciatingly painful - all the bullshit explanations for the way the market was going.
I thought he dealt with the passage of time very subtly

Well, that's the first tv I've watched since the Bob Dylan documentary and wish I hadn't bothered. Write up was fantastic but it was so lumbering and obvious.
Give me a good old fashioned book any day!

harpsichordcarrier · 15/01/2006 23:23

yes moondog I think I was so excited because I enever get to watch tv
generally get too bored
i liked that, though, very much
made me nostalgic

moondog · 15/01/2006 23:28

Am with you on bored bit.
Was flicking through Observer magazine (that's turned into a bloody silly read!) simultaneously.
Am with you on the nostalgia thing though-the parties outside reminded me off romps with feckless young men from Shrewsbury school.......

harpsichordcarrier · 15/01/2006 23:29

ah memories... yes it brought back some happy ones
yes I actually managed a full hour of this one before I started to mumsnet
possibly a record

I thought it was drivel but I enjoyed it! Good to look at and I lurve Damien Lewis, despite his stitched-up mouth.

emkana · 16/01/2006 14:31

I was very disappointed. I absolutely loved "Shooting the past" a few years ago, but his wasn't a patch on it, not as captivating by a long shot.

NomDePlume · 16/01/2006 14:32

Damian Lewis is delish but this was crappola. DH and I got about 20 mins in before turning it off and reading instead
