TV antique programmes - where to get antiques valued/sold?

A couple of years ago I took DD to the Antiques Roadshow with three family-heirloom-type things to be assessed, and it was a fab day out - as well as the general hustle and bustle, there was a level of excitement because of the well-known experts there, the 'tv faces' and the cameras. Plus as a bonus it was held at a National Trust house and we got to spend the rest of the day looking around.

My parents have a set of antique plates which are japanese or chinese, and some antique gold sports medals; they would love to know more about them, and possibly sell them. We were planning on going to the Roadshow again this year with P's stuff, but the nearest one is further away than last time and isn't somewhere 'interesting'. Flog It is coming soon too, but still a hefty drive away. What other TV antique programmes do this sort of thing?

I've searched the TV listings for programmes but a lot of them are on break at the moment so are showing repeats, I don't even know which ones are still running this year.

I think the ones mentioned are the most prominent. There is of course the awful Dickinson's Real Deal. But your best bet, if you need the value, is to find an auction house and the various specialists. Even if you then do not sell them through the auction house, you can know the proper worth.

I am an ex dealer - and I am sorry to say that there are plenty of dealers who will happily rip you off, if there is a profit in it!

OMG not Dickinson, I can't take that much orange... Grin

We're looking more at having a nice day out - the Antiques Roadshow was such a brilliant day; finding out about our antiques will just be a bonus IYSWIM.
