I watched this programme and found it rather odd that he was moved to tears at times while at the same time saying he felt his ancestry was unimportant and had nothing to do with who he is.
He shouts unnecessarily at softer questions as though they embarrass him, yet cries like a baby to find out his ancestors died of TB. Odd.
I suppose I didn't take to him from the start because I adore family history and feel it is massively important to who I am, so I didn't have much empathy for someone who cannot see its relevance.
Also, if he thnks it is moving to read the death certificates of grown up people, he should try reading those of children, who died ofsuch common place illnesses, it makes your blood run cold to think about it.
