It is so Italian, that sounds stupid, obviously it is, but what I mean is in the attitudes to things like clothes and parking - just point it at the kerb, get out, who cares if you're holding up the traffic.
I go to Rome a lot and it's reminded me of just how much of it is still stuck in the '70s like their Snack Bar HQ and the other tacky signs over small cafes and shops.
I keep pointing out to my sister all the things I recognise like a huge white brutal/classical stone building between the city and the airport which my friend says was built by Mussolini but he's not sure what for. You could see it in the background in the shots of Libanese's caravan before he set fire to it.
I was quite disappointed when that happened because it robbed me of the chance to shout: 'I know where that is,' every single time it came into shot.
And the fish restaurant on the coast where Libanese's girlfriend worked. I kept saying: 'I've been to that town. I recognise those rocks' or 'I know where that is. It's opposite the Pantheon.'
Luckily she loves it as much as me
