I love Julie Walters so I will definitely be watching.

I love John Lynch - not watching tonight , but I will.

Didn't think Julie Walters would suit a barrister's role but she was fab, very quick witted.

Interesting mix of characters. Wasn't going to watch as I don't like dedicating 5 nights to something but now I'm hooked.

I want the Russian woman's house - can we show more of it please?

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 08/11/2011 22:33

I'm not sure about this.

I like the intrigue and creepiness of the blonde woman from the public gallery, and the slow reveal of the jurors lives.

But I'm finding the Julie Walters character completely unbelievable. Surely no barrister would get away with being that objectionable and snidey in court? Primarily because she'd turn the jury against her and she'd be more likely to lose the case.

And presumably, the chances of a letter from a juror to a defendant getting through the prison's screening process is just ridiculous? Let alone him writing one back?

Going to stick with it though, mainly because anything by Peter Morgan is usually fab.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 09/11/2011 12:36

I agree, Moistetc. If the Julie Walters character talked like that in court she would get short shrift. And I also agree regarding the letter writing business.

Dumb question: what the name of the actor who plays the accused? He is fabulous! Such a good actor.

Are jury members allowed to swan about at lunchtime? I had some idea they were kept inside.

Its okay if a bit slow. I am sure they would have more questions for the witnesses in a real trial.

yes, when I did jury service last year we swanned about in the local shopping centre at lunchtimes as well as during some of the longer adjournments Smile. Also dont think that the letters between the jury member and the accused could really happen! Really feel for Steven Macintosh's character, even though i've no idea what that mysterious 'ex-juror' is up to!

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 09/11/2011 21:00

Yes, we were allowed to go home, wander around town, whatever we wanted.

And - get this - so was the defendant! I kept narrowly avoiding bumping into him during the lunchbreak. He also came up fairly close to some of the witnesses in the lobby of the court. Clearly he was on bail then, but he's now serving an indefinite sentence for 17 counts of rape Hmm

I'm watching this with DD (15) and we love it. I know it's terribly far-out-plotted, but it's so well acted.

Stilla · 10/11/2011 00:43

I've just caught up on them - really enjoying it .

Alliwant... - he is played by John Lynch

mamafairy · 10/11/2011 11:52

Me too. John Lynch played one of the falsely accused in In the Name of the Father.

LordOfTheFlies · 10/11/2011 13:40

I've watched Mon/Tues/Wed on replay. It's definately a slow boil one but I reckon it'll pull out the stops at the end.

(Unlike The Body Farm)
(And that one about the pile-up on the A1 caused by someone being stung by a wasp)

Aftereightsaremine · 12/11/2011 13:00

Anyone watch the last episode?

LordOfTheFlies · 12/11/2011 19:32

I'm still behind by 2 episodes (Thurs and Fri) so still in the dark.
