Don't usually watch this but cannot believe that her cushion with the roadkill 'hare' on it won first prize, much less 'best in show'! FIX!

Cross-stitch chap was cool! His work was way better than Kirsty's. That competition was so fixed.

ElderberrySyrup · 03/11/2011 17:50

I loved his stuff, it was so witty and cool!

This thread has got me laughing like a drain Grin.

Her range in M&S pisses me off though. What is the point of it? She's waxing lyrical about 'making your own' then put's her name to a load of old tat. Seriously, if I want a bird feeder I'll obviously find an artisan ironmonger to help me make one then pass it off as my own.

I didin't know she had her own range in MS tooHmm I just HATE the way 'celebrities' are trying to take over the universe and everything in it. Can't they bloody stay in their own bloody sphere? If they sing, then they want to write children's books or design clothes, If they marry a footballer then they want to design jewelry, If they present a TV programme they suddenly become wildlife experts or craft designers. It really is an insult to all the ordinary really talented people who do great creative things and never get taken seriously because they don't go down the bloody nepotism route or know friends and experts in high places.

Makes me sick.

Having said that I don't think her cushion was crap, It was quite good really, and needle turn technique is quite difficult to get the hang of, but it definitely wasn't the best in show.

BelleEnd · 03/11/2011 19:35

Best thread title ever :o

It's the total lack of perspective that gets me. Kirstie has not finished her cushion and it it eight hours until the show. Kirstie will have so stay up past ten to stitch the hare. She is pushed right to the edge of human endurance to get the cross-stitching done on time. "I want to go to bed" she weeps (possibly blood). Whilst the rest of us are filling our hours with crap jobs like nursing and teaching, Kirstie is making a real difference... Oh, look! Kirstie has won everything!

eminencegrise · 03/11/2011 20:10

Her cushion was ugly and looked amateurish compared to the others.

LaurieFairyCake · 03/11/2011 20:22

I thought the cushion was lovely, loved the flowers made out of buttons.

There's no way on earth it's a fix, those women are fierce as fuck and take themselves well seriously. Showing is HUGE and a serious biz.

Kirstie's cushion was fab, I loved her littleThanks

RosalindFranklinsNobelPrize · 06/11/2011 09:08

She should be ashamed of herself. There is no way her cushion was better than that teacup. What a fix.

soupforthesoul · 06/11/2011 09:22

I thought her needlework looked quite good but the design and instruction came from a professional so Hmm Kirstie.
The cross stitch man ought to have won that section of the competition for his imaginative Whitby Abbey piece and the little girl's dog was brilliant for the 3D section.

I know Kirstie cannot help it but it grated every time she mentioned the 'heah'

hocuspontas · 06/11/2011 15:34

Just watched this and was so Shock that I knew there would be a thread on it!

Her design was naive and quite atttractive but no way a winner! I thought the grass and flowers up the side were rushed and looked amateurish. There was so much blank canvas as well. Then to win Best in Show - surely that was a fix? How could it beat the 3d fox thing?

sieglinde · 06/11/2011 17:16

shineynewthings, I was impressed by Gareth Malone in today's Sunday Times, saying he didn't want to be a brandname.... and as far as I know he hasn't launched his own record label etc. But if the impulse is resistible then others ought to bloody well resist it.

TougherThanTheRest · 08/11/2011 15:10

shineynewthings I completely agree, it winds me up beyond belief how no celeb these days can just stick to what they were originally good (or sometimes not) at.

jasper · 12/11/2011 11:27

I really can't believe this programme. it's such a pile of crapola yet compulsive viewing.

Kirsty getting all het up about stitching a cushion.

TRY HAVING A PROPER JOB and see how het up that gets you.

She is just so bloody likeable.
