I won't. I don't want to know. I like my xmas dinner, and while I may be prepared to change my eating habits fot the rest of the year, xmas is a time to enjoy my food and I don't want to be put off it!

I knew there was a reason I switched to the local butchers. for local meat.

Indeed. They also went on about trans fats in mince pies etc.

Check your labels was the overriding message imo.

They had some horrible footage of turkeys being chucked into lorries and pigs dead in pens .

It made me very glad I like sprouts - I'll make sure the dds eat more sprouts throughout the year, too.

WRT Christmas Dinner, I really dislike roast dinners and will never cook one if I can help it. We'll have a chicken with new potatoes and salad for lunch and fillet steak in the evning. DH is veggie so will have a nut roast with whatever else we have.

I remember my mum stressing over the gravy, pouring meat juice and veg water in and stirring in cornflour and what have you. And all for something that makes everything soggy and taste the same! Why?

trans fat's in mince pies - what's that about? I don't eat em but DH does.
