Anybody else hate the scene where the old woman vomits everywhere???? Probably I don't like it as I have a phobia, but surely people can't call this comedy!!!!

I know the show is meant to be "far fetched" but it really is disgusting!!!!

Little Britain proved its worth for me at 1am last night when ds did a projectile vomit I can only describe by comparison with the vomiting WI lady from LB. Unfortunately he was running from the bedroom to the bathroom at the time, so the only surface that didn't get covered was the ceiling.

Oh how I laughed.

SoupDragon · 25/11/2005 13:02

I despise the carer/wheelchair user scenario. Makes me shudder.

MrsBubsDeVere · 25/11/2005 13:03

'I'm the only gay in they village' - Fabulous, especially cos the villagers were homaphobes who have driven him to have a non english speaking, spanish girlfriend who got lost whilst hiking with her friends - Genius

LadyTophamHatt · 25/11/2005 13:14

This series has made me LOL for the first time.

Some of it makes me cringe but it is amusing atthe smae time.

MrsBubsDeVere · 25/11/2005 13:17

I agree some of it is cringeworthy, but fab, i know what i am going to be watching tonight

Anteater · 25/11/2005 13:27

90% (and increasing) retard/toilet humour with
occasional flashes of brilliance (only gay/PM)
Time to move on?

MrsBubsDeVere · 25/11/2005 13:28

Nah! Time to sit back and enjoy, i've seen clips of what is to come and some parts and new characters are great, proving things can only get better with Mr Walliams and Mr Lucas.

crimbocrazydazy · 25/11/2005 14:44

I do find it funnier than other sitcoms DP likes but just wonder why they feel they have to take it over the top!!!! It is not needed as it is doing so well.

I don't watch it, but do like the odd bits, DP always warns me though when the vomiting woman comes on!!!! I once saw a tiny bit and it really freaked me out and it doesn't even look real, still can't watch it though!!!!

I think its rubbish

not funny and horribly misogynistic

Enid · 25/11/2005 14:47

agree that the tom baker bits are still funny

hate the assumption that old women are repulsive, pissing creatures

breastmilk, vomit, pee hmmmmmmmmm surprised they havent done a hilarious one about periods

spacedonkey · 25/11/2005 14:48

David Walliams in particular seems to have developed an aura of smugness that I find hard to bear.

Lonelymum · 25/11/2005 14:49

Have only seen odd moments of it (but still caught the vomit scene - emetophobes unite!) and I think it is the biggest load of tripe to hit the screens in a long time, but I know I am old and grumpy.

In Sainsburys today I saw Vicky Pollard dolls for sale. Who on earth would want one?

flamesparrow · 25/11/2005 14:51

I thought it was just me who never "got" what was meant to be so good...

Saw a teeny bit last night, and it just seemed infantile and very racist.

crimbocrazydazy · 25/11/2005 14:52

Lol Lonelymum, gonna rush out and get DD one now - NOT!!!!!

DP wants "only gay in the village" slippers, he sometimes worries me tbh!!!

OP posts:
Lonelymum · 25/11/2005 14:53

I think they were meant ot be dolls for adults. I am even more mystified.

crimbocrazydazy · 25/11/2005 14:58

They are not blow up dolls are they???

Cannot imagine DP wanting one of those...although nothing surprises me

Lonelymum · 25/11/2005 16:43

Not in Saisnburys CCD!

Nemo1977 · 25/11/2005 17:02

love little britian..lol Actually went to see it live last night very well done

tallulah · 25/11/2005 17:03

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't find this funny. DH and the DSs (18 & 16) roll about laughing. (Must be an age thing- give me Monty Python any time)

clarebear4 · 25/11/2005 21:02

It cant be an age thing as mt Mum in law is besotted by it
she told me about it and I thought ok I will have a look. I watched in horror as the old woman peed herself (dh reminding me I did the same after birth of ds2). Thank god I didnt see the vomiting one. The only bit that made me laugh was the slimming club one. As a long time dieter I recognised Margery Dawes in quite a few "leaders".

drdad · 26/11/2005 18:53

Glad the long-overdue backlash seems to be starting! It's just lazy, lazy writing. The first series was mildly amusing but now they rely entirely on mindless repetition and tedious 'shock' value. For God's sake, write some **ing JOKES!

Bomper · 26/11/2005 22:57

Utter CRAP!!!!

marthamoo · 26/11/2005 23:07

I've never liked it - the odd bit is amusing (I like the WeightWatchers parody "dust?" mainly because I have been to WW and it is like that. Also find Vicki Pollard vaguely amusing). I have to shut my eyes with the vomiting WI women (and I'm not an emetophobe), I hate the wheelchair/carer stuff. I haven't watched any of the new series but there was a letter in Radio Times this week about the British bloke with the Thai bride - is that the Ting Tong sketch? The letter basically said it was laying the way for Thai/British mixed race children to be teased in school - along the lines of "your mum's Ting Tong". I remember discussing this once before - they had a sketch about a "Chinky" (was it the Dennis Waterman bit?) and a few people were wondering why it's acceptable when David Walliams and Matt Lucas do it and not acceptable if, say Jim Davison or Bernard Manning do it.

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 26/11/2005 23:09

Love it and I'm not ashamed of saying so

marthamoo · 26/11/2005 23:11

Apologies for appalling grammar of my last post - I am very tired and have had half a bottle of wine. I should shut up and go to bed!
