It's like an evil "Lawnmower Man" trailer. orrible orrible thing.

jodee · 16/11/2005 12:49

So glad it's not just me. First time I saw it it gave me the absolute creeps. Gives me the willies thinking about it now. Probably wouldn't bother 5yo ds, but I think I've watched too many horror films!! (Feistybird - Candyman, exactly!)

spagblog · 16/11/2005 12:54

yoyo - I have this to a minor extent! I never realised it until you said it was the grouping together thing...I get cringy over sunflowers, hate looking at caviar, and not keen on seeing seeds in melons

Baked beans are okay ks! I really don't know what triggers my reaction - perhaps I'll start recording the culprits.

yoyo · 16/11/2005 17:05

Spagblog - caviar with me too (not that I have to look at it very often). I can't look at passion fruit seeds either without that strange feeling although melon doesn't bother me too much.
This would make a good research topic for someone!

MrsFogi · 16/11/2005 17:45

I think it's fab, I'm glued to the screen every time it comes on.

zippitippitoes · 17/11/2005 12:34

I wrote a comment to the BBc about the big head (a comment not a complaint )

and they took the trouble to reply which impresses me quite a lot

Thank you for your e-mail.

I note that you dislike the new BBC digital trail and feel that it contains distracting and unpleasant images.

If I may explain, this new BBC digital campaign uses innovative animation and eye-catching imagery to grab the attention of viewers who might not otherwise register the message about how to get the BBC's extra services. The big head represents the 63% of the UK who are already enjoying digital television, but that means there's 37% of the population to go. As you can tell from the mood of the music and the sunny landscapes, these are upbeat and inspiring trails with no intention to disturb or upset. They have been fully cleared through the BBC's standard compliance for showing at any time but will not be scheduled near children's programmes.

I acknowledge, however, that you do not like the trails to be taken off air and in this respect I will ensure that your comments are fully registered and made available to the BBC Digital department and other senior management within the BBC. Feedback of this nature helps us when making decisions about future BBC trails and services and your views will most certainly play a part in this process.

I hope this helps explain our thinking on this matter and may I thank you again for taking the time to voice your concerns.

so that's what it is about...

yoyo - that is so freaky. You reminded me today that I too have this phobia of things grouped together. It isn't everythign but it is the frog spawney type things you talked about - I feel all shivery and sick now. I remember once the saucepan had milk in it and it got burnt and it created a funny grouped together pattern. I couldn't even look at it!

End of highjack

yoyo · 17/11/2005 14:33

Moggymummy - this is all so reassuring! Perhaps it is more common than people think but they just hadn't realised?

golds · 17/11/2005 14:34

Can't stand it, have to switch over, makes me want to pick them off one by one - yuk

vic891 · 17/11/2005 21:23

me too re grouped together things - seeds, etc.

my biggest phobia is the suckery bits on octopus tentacles - uuurrrrrggggghhh. a (so-called) friend once managed to find a postcard with a close-up pic of aforementioned horridities and sent it to me (even though we were house sharing at the time).

but the BBC head thing makes me think of skin diseases - another phobia - shudder...

charliecat · 17/11/2005 21:25

I thought it was really cool

yoyo · 17/11/2005 21:29

vic891 - skin diseases here too. One of my health books has a picture of smallpox (shudder). Molluscum also have the same effect. This thread is like therapy for me!

albosmum · 17/11/2005 21:30

i can't watch its creepy but dh loves it

vic891 · 17/11/2005 21:30

yoyo - imagine having to touch it (smallpoxy face in yer book) - eeuuw

think i may have nightmares tonight

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 17/11/2005 21:32

Anyone got a link I can go to? I'd love to see this!

vic891 · 17/11/2005 21:38

there's a teeny image of it on www.bbc.co.uk/digital/

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 17/11/2005 21:41

Nowt wrong with that!

vic891 · 17/11/2005 21:43

wait 'til you see it moving (wriggling, writhing, mutating, eeuuuw) on TV...

MoggyMummy · 17/11/2005 21:57

Oh god just remember another thing that freaks me out - when you have a casserole or soup with loads of fat in and you store it in the fridge - the next day all the fat rises to the top and formms little round circles grouped together - euw! I can't bear it.

I sound like a nutter now don't I?
