Jesus, I have never seen a human being so utterly vile in all my life!Shock I am usually sympathetic to anyone with possible mental health issues but apparently he hasn't. Staging repeated dirty protests was beyond grim, the look of him was freakish and him shouting 'fuck off' to everyone was laughable, even the judge FGS!!! I notice he now has a huge following on FB! Grin

Thats interesting perpetuallypregnant, so he clearly has tried to live a 'normal' life and failed.

I just find it sad.

as a sufferer of BPD i'd love to know what led you to linking david charlton with the illness?

In some respects he reminded me of a toddler having a tantrum. Refusing to walk, and wanting to be pushed in a wheelchair, and complaining that he didn't get the food he wanted, and throwing it around, telling obvious lies etc.

It seems he wants to withdraw from society, but still be looked after. I reckon he'd only be happy if he lived as a hermit, with a housekeeper. He obviously won't look after himself.

Huge respect to people who work in that environment.

Thingumy · 17/05/2011 21:08

I thought he showed traits of the 'impulsive type' of BPD

"marked tendency to act unexpectedly and without consideration of the consequences;
marked tendency to quarrelsome behaviour and to conflicts with others, especially when impulsive acts are thwarted or criticized;
liability to outbursts of anger or violence, with inability to control the resulting behavioural explosions;
difficulty in maintaining any course of action that offers no immediate reward;
unstable and capricious mood"

gemmummy84 · 17/05/2011 22:19

citation please? and some context would be nice, shouldn't be hard as you are clearly a healthcare professional. this is a very unfair representation of bpd, managing it alone with 2 lovely children i feel i should speak on behalf of all sufferers who feel your comments are fundamentally unfounded. he could be classed as having several psychiatric disorders, at the end of the day that isn't the case, his behaviour is a choice he makes. attributing his vile actions to bpd is highly unfair unless you have a good reason. so far, you don't.

gemmummy84 · 17/05/2011 22:27

i think you'll find you've confused bpd with impulsive emotionally unstable personality disorder, which is a separate condition. www.anxietyzone.com/conditions/emotionally_unstable_personality_disorder.html

gemmummy84 · 17/05/2011 22:30

bpd: 1. disturbances in and uncertainty about self-image, aims, and internal preferences (including sexual);

  1. liability to become involved in intense and unstable relationships, often leading to emotional crises;
  1. excessive efforts to avoid abandonment;
  1. recurrent threats or acts of self-harm;
  1. chronic feelings of emptiness.

really? david charlton? ... get your facts right before you start slating things you don't understand.

Thingumy · 17/05/2011 22:41

'There is an ongoing debate among clinicians and patients worldwide about terminology and the use of the word borderline,[3] and some have suggested that this disorder should be renamed.[4] The ICD-10 manual has an alternative definition and terminology to this disorder, called Emotionally unstable personality disorder.'

What is the correct term?

Thingumy · 17/05/2011 22:42

there are several subtypes of bpd.

FunnysInTheGarden · 17/05/2011 22:45

it struck me that his development hadn't evolved from the toddler stage and so I wondered what had happened in his early childhood to illicit such arrested development.

Thingumy · 17/05/2011 22:45

there are several subtypes of bpd.

and if you read my initial post I never said I thought he had bpd ,I said I thought he had some form of bpd

gemmummy84 · 18/05/2011 00:10

and if you read my post, you'd understand there's a big difference between having bpd and having some form of emotional disorder (which your pathetic attempts at researching failed to notice). just because emotional disorder includes bpd is does not mean that anything under emotional disorder means bpd. once again, whatever you were trying to label him with has no relation to bpd. anytime now would be good to apologise to bpd sufferers....or at least a citation would be good

gemmummy84 · 18/05/2011 00:15

there are several subtypes of vegetable....does that mean a carrot has the same properties as a pea? thingumpy....i'm glad you haven't suffered from this cos it's apparent you can only just function as a person happy to slate others...good luck if you're ever left with this condition (you will really need it!)

Thornykate · 18/05/2011 00:29

By bpd are you referring to borderline personality disorder or bi polar disorder?

Maybe you are both at cross purposes.

Sounds like this man has already been in psych hosp hence why he was requesting to go back there. In the absence of illness it would not be appropriate although psych hospitals are, like prisons often used as societies dumping ground for the people we just don't know what else to do with.

Interesting that 8yrs ago he was ok. I agree with whoever said that it's suprising that people don't realise how many people with extreme anti social behaviours are out there, but I suppose that depends on the jobs people do as to whether they come across people with this sort of behaviour.

gemmummy84 · 18/05/2011 00:36

I was referring to borderline personailty disorder, i assume the "lady" attempting to associate david charlton with bpd meant the same? i thought joining here would mean shared support, not ignorant idiots having a go about things they have no concept of.

Thingumy · 18/05/2011 08:38

Wow-you have alot of venom gemm.

I have no intention of getting into a row over my opinion on a person from a tv programme.

Let's hope he gets some well needed help eh?

Hmm at the 'lady' comment.

jools000046 · 18/05/2011 16:23

I think I knew him years ago and he wasn't like that can you confirm if he lived in Ponteland???

Perpetuallypregnant · 18/05/2011 22:37
