dd1 sometimes goes to bed after eastenders and corrie, but she gets upset if folk are arguing or crying on it, so ive had to stop watching it!

she still remembers it the next day "are you going to watch that sad programme again mummy?"

DD knows the theme song for EE - she knows it means bedtime and runs away when she hears it.

flamebat · 19/10/2005 16:02

Yup. DD (2 1/2) used to watch everything, but about 2 weeks ago she decided that CSI wasn't a good plan anymore (logic probably should have told me that... ), but apart from that, she still tends to watch most things - it is clear when she doesn't like something, so i turn it off straight away then.

She hates Supernanny I think its the children crying that upsets her - I now use it as a threat when she wants to get up again after bedtime "You can come down, but you have to sit still and watch supernanny"... she goes back to bed!!!

No I dont I hate loathe and detest ALL of them ~shudder~ and dd gets upset at them too. dd and I ahve our bath while dp watches EE. Its an established part of the bedtime routine

nailpolish · 19/10/2005 16:04

if i DO watch it she asks non stop questions

"why is that lady shouting?"

"whats that man hitting that lady for?"

"why is that lady crying?"

do i tell her honestly or just say "shes sad" or whatever

(if i do say "shes sad" dd asks a hundred times "WHY WHY WHY"

lol flamebat dd is fasinated in a strange way by LA and SN. She stares at the screaming kids like shes never seen anything like it before. Dp swears that shes studying them to pick up tips for later.

Bozza · 19/10/2005 16:05

DS has seen the theme for Corrie - you know the bit with the tram but I would not let him watch it. Remember him once seeing a clip from Eastenders on Richard and Judy of two women fighting - yelling, hair pulling etc and it quite affected him. Was annoyed with them for showing it at that time.

Also was at my ILs last Christmas and they had the Christmas Corrie special on - as you know the Christmas shows are always full of drama - so I had to spend the whole time playing with DS behind the settee.

Forgot to add the to my last post!

flamebat · 19/10/2005 16:07

I'd go with telling them something they'll understand... he's hitting her because he's a very bad man.... she's sad because she's lost xyz like when you lost xyz....

I take it its a blessing that my DD is a bit behind with speech?

TinyGang · 19/10/2005 16:08

No,too much misery. I don't mind them watching tv really, but not adult stuff if it's inappropriate.

Mine enjoy dancing to the music channels, but I'll turn it off if I think the videos are too adult for them. They think I'm a mean old mummy about this, I know, but some of those videos are too raunchy for little ones.

Easy · 19/10/2005 16:09

No No, why on earth would you put these programs full of disfunctional families on while your small children are watching?

I won't let ds aged 6 watch Grange hill, never mind these detestable soaps.

If you MUST watch them, for heavens sake get your kids to bed first.

nailpolish · 19/10/2005 16:09

it was a nightmare when demi was missing - dd wanted to know why demis mummy was sad - unfortunately i said "shes lost her little girl" and dd was horrified

Dd went to bed before all the badness on tv last night... I discovered this morning that DH hadn't bothered to check the cd in her cd player (listens to story cds), and he put her to bed listening to Ben Folds Five singing "Give me my money back you bitch"

nailpolish · 19/10/2005 16:17

Flame
I LOVE that song! 'And don't forget my black tshirt.'

Blu · 19/10/2005 16:37

No, DS accidentally saw a bit of EE and was quite disturbed by the violence.

expatinscotland · 19/10/2005 16:38

Glad we missed EE last night - was DH's bday, had to have romantic meal out w/ILs watching football, I mean, DD.

Now I'm gonna be singing 'So you wanted to have some space. Slow it down some. And take a break. . . Well FK YOU, too!' . That is a brill son.g

daisy1999 · 19/10/2005 16:39

I dont watch enders but I'm fascinated now - what happened last night?

flamebat · 19/10/2005 16:41

I put it on when I was tidying her room... was thinking about different songs on the CD, and thinking it was a reasonable one for her - forgot that one was there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She found mummy diving across the room to skip the song hilariaous.
