Cbeebies reception rubbish - what to do?

This may be a very stupid question, if so apologies.

We recently bought a nice new TV with Freeview etc - didn't have this before, just the 5 terrestrial channels.

One of the reasons for getting the new TV was to have Cbeebies.

But the reception is really poor - we get these strange digital shapes invading the screen, like bits of the signal are missing and some of the sound is missing.

Doesn't seem to happen on any other channel.

Am in N London.

Does anyone else get this?

Do I have to get up onto the roof and kick the arial, get someone in to sort it out or what? No good asking DH - he is a digital luddite.

TIA

If you haven't tried, it might be worth re-scanning to see if you pick the channel up any better. We've had times when we've needed to do this because we've ended up with pixelation or even lost of reception on some channels.

Failing that, you might need a better aerial, specially if you are in a built up area or in between transmitters. You can get some good advice on this sort of stuff from some non-luddite hardcore geeks over on the digitalspy forums.

Thanks Ouryve, very helpful.

We did the rescanning which unfortunately hasn't helped, so as you say it must be the aerial ... [goes off to digitalspy]

Something else we have done with our Freeview (on advice from some bugger on t;internet Wink) was to unplug your aerial and rescan the stations - the telly will give you the message that it cannot find any stations and is your aerial plugged in? This basically wipes the memory of the TV - plug aerial back in and scan again, and see.

Though I strongly suspect the previous poster was right, and you need a new aerial. Is your aerial definitely on the roof? In our current house, the aerial's in the attic so was v. easy for DH to change over (but he is a geek, too, so understood about all this...................).
