Oh how true about all that aspirational bollocks. I'd love to see a real show & to have someone burn something and then say- ahhh no worries I'll do this instead(cue long sho tof them slicing away edges and coming up with a genius solution)...or to see someone a bit frantic because they really do need to get back from work, pick up their real kids (no nannies or runners in the background)and get sweaty in their own kitchens.

How funny- we always call the pretendy friends the vegetables or the sides....Jamie and Nigella are terrible for all that- and as for sitting in a shabby chic shed in the garden with lacy curtains whilst eating strawberry cake (which will be followed a few moments after but a Dulcoease chaser) ermmmm, no thanks Soph.

That said Lorraine came across very well- she is made for Telly!

Ikwym madamim.. I liked the baking competition the contestants wore PINNIES!!

madamimadam · 28/01/2011 13:52

PMSL at 'vegetables on the side', Megglevache. I got worried about the Living Dahl when she gave up eating the cake entirely and all we saw were baked goods left forlornly on an outside table. (For the foxes, I presume....)

Ah Ppeatfruit, I wish I'd seen that competition! Yes, we need more pinnies on tv, I think.

(and proper leaf tea)

I liked the fact that the show doesn't rely on loads of gimmicks to get the viewer's interest. I admit that I haven't been particularly inspired by what she has made so far or learnt anything new because I do a fair amount of baking anyway. But I find her refreshing and I just love watching cookery shows. She also gets through a fair number of recipes on each show and doesn't waste most of the half hour on non cookery items.

Hi, does anyone know which cooking equipment shop she used? Really trying to find a decent cooking/baking equipment shop, but not having much . Thanks x

I don't you if you live near a John Lewis labdre but i like their cook shops. I don't know if she used it though Smile

I like her mixer, like the idea of being able to see what is happening rather than trying to peer through the top.

Labdre - I get most of my baking stuff from Lakeland.

We have a Kitchen's in Cardiff. There are lots of family run cookery shops too. Look in the yellow pages. Lots of stuff can be sourced on-line.

Go for good/superior quality. You can get normal stuff from say wilkinsons but its not as good as say Mermaid - you pay more but the longality and performance is excellent.
