Im watching it yet again. It is so good i dont think i will ever get bored watching it. It makes me sad though that John Thaw is no longer alive. He was such an amazing actor. I cant believe it is twelve years old.

Oh no!

tears in my eyes already and we're only half way through!

lunafire · 21/11/2010 13:48

He was so lovely in it wasn't he. I'd read the book long before it was on TV and he was just perfect in the role. Fab story.

lottiejenkins · 21/11/2010 13:49

If i remember correctly it was filmed in the same village as The Vicar of Dibley.

I haven't seen Buried Treasure before. I hope it's half as good as Mr Tom.

I'd best bring out the family sized Kleenex box then.

lottiejenkins · 21/11/2010 15:35

I first saw it the year after my dh died. That might explain why i was crying!!

Several One or two were used.

NormaSknockers · 21/11/2010 17:33

I love this so much, can't believe I missed it :(

That bit where he finds him and the dead baby girl in the loacked cupboard

I adored the book, it's one on my list to read with DD when she's a bit older along with Carrie's War.

LoudRowdyDuck · 21/11/2010 17:36

Oh, I love the book, I've never seen the film. Is the quality on youtube any good?

My lovely primary school teacher read this to us (doing all the accents, he was great), and I always hear it in his voice. He died a few years back, and he wasn't very old. Sad

LetThereBeRock · 21/11/2010 17:41

It's quite good.Certainly good enough to watch the entire thing on.

LoudRowdyDuck · 21/11/2010 17:47

Great, thanks very much LTBR. Nothing worse than starting to watch and finding it goes out of sych as soon as you start getting weepy!

LetThereBeRock · 21/11/2010 17:49

I watched it on Youtube a few months ago,and I'm sure that was the version that I watched. Apologies if there's any problems, but it seems fine so far. I've watched the first two parts.l

BikeRunSki · 21/11/2010 17:50

I love Goodnight Mr Tom. I think we read it at school - I certainly read it years before the film was made. Both film and book always have me in floods. DOn't even get me started on "Shadowlands"...

lottiejenkins · 21/11/2010 17:53

This is the first time i have had a thread pop up on the right hand side in Discussions of the Day!!! Grin

The book is one of my favourites. DS1 had it read to him in yr6 and he gave me a daily installment so that I had to read it.
