All she does is smirk. I could do that and get paid for itGrin. The whole storyline is boring me now

Elyan is yummy. I'm glad it seems he's sticking around.

Dumbledoresgirl · 24/10/2010 18:15

Saltire - Guy of Gisborne v Arthur Pendragon. Now that would be worth seeing! (though I am afraid Richard Armitage has nothing over the fit and gorgeous Bradley James.

agree about Elyan - he is very nice to look at too. I wonder where they go for casting Merlin? "PrettyBoysRUs?"

DinahRod · 24/10/2010 18:29

Dh thinks you're failing to see the appeal of evilly bewitchy Morgana; Gwen is just too wholesome but it's definitely a programme full of lush male totty - Gwain, Lancelot, Elyan, Arthur's buttocks, even evil Cenred.

Dumbledoresgirl · 24/10/2010 18:33

Don't forget Merlin himself. He is a bit young for me (they all are) but he has lovely eyes.

I can see that Morgana is very beautiful. But her constant "evil look" is very wearing.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 24/10/2010 18:37

I can never understand whether Katie Mc whatsit is trying to hide her accent when doing her Morgana bit. It's like sometimes she bothers and sometimes she doesn't. The trouble is her evil look isn't evil. She looks like she's been caught googling 'Bradly James kit off'. Which I did not do btw.

I think I say to dh at least once per episode, 'isn't Colin Morgan good at disguising his accent?' He has the thickest, most impenetrable accent in rl but his Merlin doesn't show it at all.

I do feel quite wrong ogling Bradley James. He's only about 3 years younger than me. Still wrong though.

Dumbledoresgirl · 24/10/2010 19:28

God, I'm old enough to be his mother and I ogle him. I will be dead the day I stop ogling men, regardless of age.

Dumbledoresgirl · 24/10/2010 19:32

Actually, I am trying to think, there was a man fairly recently who I admire and was delighted to discover was roundabout my age. I felt, for the first time, this is a man I am allowed to ogle, as opposed to the Bradleys of this world who wouldn't look twice at me because of my age, and the Clint Eastwoods of this world who might be flattered by my admiration but wouldn't be able to do anything about it without having a cardiac arrest.

Wish I could remember who this suitable man was...

Saltire · 24/10/2010 19:37

DG - I am laughing at you ogling Bradley James - did you not have a thing about young Robin Hood too?Grin

OP posts:
Dumbledoresgirl · 24/10/2010 19:50

Oh Robin can go and shag Guy now for all I care. I wouldn't look twice at him now.

Arthur is my one (Saturday evening) love. Grin

MrsGhoulOfGhostbourne · 25/10/2010 12:11

DDG - me too [hblush] to begin woth I though tthe was no male totty in Merlin, but Arthur has grown into the role and deffo into my attention span... [hgrin]

Saltire · 30/10/2010 21:04

More smirking and scowling tonight - give the girl an oscar for her varied acting skills Grin

Lydwatt · 30/10/2010 21:22

Stuff Arthur and Merlin...Gwain's my man!!

fsmail · 30/10/2010 23:43

I think they need to kill Uther off and shake it up a bit. My 10 year old DS was telling him to die last time. Morgana needs to go off somewhere and come back next year really evil. They need some new story lines with new characters. Lancelot defo needs to come back for me.

fsmail · 30/10/2010 23:44

I shouldn't worry about liking Arthur, I have major crush on Zac Efron and he is 20 years younger than me to the day. I always feel uncomfortable but hey ho.

noeyedear · 31/10/2010 09:18

I def. think they do need to shake thingsup- Gwen looks like she suspects something abot Morgana, but it's the same old story again- who will believe a servant over the Kings daughter? I don't think Morgana's a good enough actress to do evil well. They need to get rid and have a proper baddie- maybe Morgause, if they can afford her for longer, and yes- bring Launcelot back! We need a good love triangle!

Lydwatt · 31/10/2010 09:58

I agree...There is the 'moonlighting' trap (and here's showing my age!!) of finally moving things on...only to spoil the 'will they won't they' aspect of the tension.

However, Some day Arthur has to find out about merlin's magic...and get the girl..and create a round table. I hope they have the guts to do that in this programme. Arthur is old enough to be King by the standards of his day. And there is only so often that merlin can be conviently left alone to save the day without revealing to everyone that he used magic!

Tootiredforgodtyping · 31/10/2010 17:39

my guinea pig is named after Merlin. I too would pay to see Bradley James with his kit off.

MrsLucasNorth · 01/11/2010 22:34

"Richard Armitage is spectacularly plain"

"I am afraid Richard Armitage has nothing over the fit and gorgeous Bradley James"

Saltire we have clearly strayed into a parallel thread universe! Grin

Saltire · 14/11/2010 22:47

Ok so same boring storyline again. It wouldn't be so bad if Morgana actually could do facial expressions other than smirk or scowl.

Don't think I'll watch the next series if she's still in it, as there are only so many times Merlin can foil her plans/save Arthur/Uther/random villagers without someone guessing waht's going on

I guffawed at: "The trouble is her evil look isn't evil. She looks like she's been caught googling 'Bradly James kit off'. Which I did not do btw."

She's so mesmerisingly beautiful though isn't she, and has such larvely dresses.

There is not nearly enough exposure of Arthur's chest this series.

Saltire · 14/11/2010 22:58

In fact she's boring and obviously trying to audtion for a role in a Scottish Widows advert, with her floaty billowing dresses and capes.

AitchTwoOh · 14/11/2010 23:08

can anyone explain the relationship between morgana and morgeuse? (and why their parents were so unimaginative re names?)

Saltire · 15/11/2010 07:48

Same mother, I am assuming that because Morgana is apparently Uthers daughter (hence her trying to kill him and Arthur so she can get on the throne) and Morgeuse is her sister yet not mention of her being Uther's daughter too

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 15/11/2010 10:02

so why is morgeuse a baddy? what's her motivation? the whole 'he keeps killing the majicks' thing.

i really cannot bear emilia fox. like, reaaaally.

Dumbledoresgirl · 15/11/2010 10:12

I am not sure Morgause has been fully explained yet. When she first appeared, she burst her way into Camelot, killing 3 guards on the way, challenged Arthur to a fight, had him at her sword's point and challenged him to do whatever she asked 3 days hence, then when that time arrived, threatened to cut off his head and all so she could grant him his dearest wish!?!? Then she allows him to meet his dead mother who tells him his father is a shit, and she (Morgause) commiserates with him on having a shit for a father.

I mean, what the f*? Did she expect Arthur to go home, kill his father and embrace magic? Is she so cross now because he didn't? I am assuming that is the case, but it could do with a bit more explanation, seeing as this is a children's show, not Checkov. (Cant think how to spell that name).

Oh and I read something the other day that implied that Arthur would never find out about Merlin's magic. My heart sank. He has to! Of course, they need to maintain the dynamic between Arthur and Merlin, ie Arthur has to keep bullying Merlin because that is funny and what makes it worth watching, but surely they can do that and also reveal Merlins' secret? Come on script writers! I think the writing has really gone off this series and someone seriously needs to do something about it.
