I haven't seen a thread and I am enjoying this series so much.

Anyone else enjoying Jamie Bamber this? I can't think of an actor I don't like in it and I think the plots have been consistently good.

Does anyone want to talk to me about it?

Oh it is great stuff, I really look forward to it .

Bradley Walsh is excellent in it, there's never enough of him. But I prefer the bloke who plays the CPS barrister to Jamie Bamber.

Last night's was especially good, although it did amuse me that they cast someone who was a dead ringer for Nick Griffin as Racist Dad. Just in case you needed more subliminal clues!

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 15/10/2010 18:49

I watched it for the first time last night and am embarrassed to say I rather liked it.... Wouldn't dare watch if DH were here tho....

Good characters, great cast! Will record and watch in secret in future.....

ant3nna · 15/10/2010 18:52

I noticed that about Racist Dad too. I did think after he gave his 'Paki racist' speech that he was the real murderer. Loved Alesha telling him matter of factly that Archie was British - mirrors recent conversations I've had with my dad.

I will admit too finding Ben Daniels a bit swoonful, especially when he's doing his magnificent bastard thing in court. Doesn't have a thing for forceful men, honestly Blush

Haven't seen this weeks yet, but it is quite good.

I had seen the USA version, which I think was better.

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 15/10/2010 18:58

OH yes, Racist Dad was an absolutely spit of NG.
How extraordinary, didn't think it at the time, though something was kind of bugging me, and now I know that was it!!!

Good show, didn't really know what to expect as had not seen the US version. I love a good crime show, DH relentlessly takes piss out of me for watching them, so it is my secret vice!

cocolepew · 15/10/2010 19:05

I love Bradley Walsh in it, it's great. Did the dad appear in Victoria Woods shows a lot?

ant3nna · 15/10/2010 19:05

anonymousbrainsnatcher, you should definitely ignore your DH, he doesn't know what he's talking about Grin

IMO, the casting on this has been excellent - I wasn't sure about Bradley Walsh at first but he's spot on. Most of the guest stars have been cast for acting not name as well - I hate it when someone has been cast just because they are very well known but has little real acting ability.

Oh I watch loads of crime drama, which I never did until I met DH.

Ten years down the line, he's just got a job working away, so now I'm going to be scaring the living daylights out of myself all alooooooone... Grin

I do generally prefer the US ones, possibly because I'm not American, so I can suspend disbelief a bit more readily. Always nice to get a good homegrown one though, although Luther was shit.

Raahh · 15/10/2010 20:25

You really have to watch the original US series- DH and i recently finished watching the final season- number 20. We have seen every episode- Jerry Orbach was a fantastic actor, he really made the show.

Brasso4 · 15/10/2010 22:24

Missed last night's episode but normally watch. My DH's sci fi obsession introduced me to Jamie Bamber in Battlestar Galactica and hence I am hooked! (He is nearly on a par with David Boreanz in Bones) I do like the whole court case thing, although it does sometimes get a little predictable. I did watch a lot of SVU and Criminal Intent when on holiday in the States last year - was 3 months PG and felt rough for a couple of days.

domeafavour · 15/10/2010 23:01

yeah, its great

ant3nna · 15/10/2010 23:51

Brasso, I'm glad I'm not the only one here that came for Apollo Jamie Bamber Grin

Love Bradley Walsh in it, was so excited when I heard they were doing a UK version (Love Law and Order) and really upset when I read that Bradley Walsh was going to be one of the main characters in it. Have been eating my words, happily, ever since. He?s so brill.
Find Jamie Bamber a bit,, well to be honest too nice and good looking to be a copper. . . . .all the ones I know are either nice guys but showing the effect of too many late nights/ shift work/ greasy food. And the few really good looking ones are tossers and think all women are out to pull them, rant over.
As for this weeks episode, it was a bit of a weak one really could see it coming a mile off, the minute I saw Andrew Dunn thought yeap he?s going to be a racist. . . .

Had to laugh at the ?Archie was British? comment reminded me of a comment an older ?lady? I worked with/for made.

OH is British Asian and was in the army at the time, she thought the world of him, but was quite surprised the first time she saw him in his uniform, as she didn?t think ?they? were allowed join the army?????..
But when he was out on tour was very worried that he might get picked on. (You?d have to see OH to get how funny that is)

Lauriefairycake · 18/10/2010 23:49

This series is how I knew I was getting old as I fancy Bradley walsh and not the young kid Blush

I do like it but I am obsessed by Law and Order: SVU and all the stories are from that so I have seen them all.

Kitta · 19/10/2010 15:49

Some of them are the same but the uk version seems to be a bit more, well real, or is that because it's uk?????

And you don't have Stabler been all self righteous just because he managed to father children and convince his poor long suffering wife to go back to him

beachholiday · 20/10/2010 22:08

Stabler's wife convinced him to go back to her, after they conceived their fifth in a one-nighter. They had the character finally adjust and start moving on and then reversed the storyline, rather unconvincingly.

Latest season of SVU has started very well though.
