Well, i loved her house. I especially liked the fact that not all her furniture was brand new, it tells more of a story.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 29/09/2010 21:58

I am hearting Kevin even more now, he has been so sensitive and I think all credit to C4 for editing it so sensitively as well.

pebblejones · 29/09/2010 21:59

It's a beautiful house! I hope she and her DCs will be happy there.

mousymouse · 29/09/2010 22:02

I want that house. it would be perfect for my family. even with the decor!
I hope she and here children are happy there.

Katz · 29/09/2010 22:02

DH and I have said we'd buy that house. It's a lovely family home. Good size with all the space we'd need

mamasunshine · 29/09/2010 22:04

Very very sad...what an amazing woman to have dealt with what she has!

DaisySteiner · 29/09/2010 22:04

Loved this house, one of my favourites on Grand Designs ever. They all both seemed so nice, not like some episodes where the couples appear so arrogant and vain.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/09/2010 22:13

An amazing lady and a lovely house. I hope she can find peace and joy in it.

TheBolter · 29/09/2010 22:24

I second that BadKitten.

Fimbo · 29/09/2010 22:34

I wish her well too.

Didn't Kevin say at the end she was sitting on what could be the prototype for all new family homes?

ReshapeWhileDamp · 29/09/2010 22:51

I knew about this from the radio times and wasn't sure if I could bear to watch, but Ch4 handled it so sensitively and didn't have his death as part of the timescale of the project, if you see what I mean. Still, I can't really look at her tiny children without tearing up. Sad

Lovely house, I like the way it sort of looks like a massive garden shed! (in a nice way.) I admire her so much for having that sort of vision and being flexible at the same time, on top of this horrible tragedy.

TheCrackFox · 29/09/2010 23:04

Actually, I do think on Grand Designs that the best houses have been the ones where there isn't a lot of money. They have had to be creative to get around any problems whereas the ones that have had money thrown at them tend to be soulless and a bit crap.

SparklyJules · 29/09/2010 23:16

Kept welling up at this tonight. I know if it was me I wouldn't have had the strength to go ahead with the build.

The house was beautiful and actually looked like a realistic family home, with kids stuff in it - gasp!

franke · 30/09/2010 06:57

Totally agree with crackfox re the best ones being the ones on a budget.

This was quite hard to watch, her grief was so palpable. Loved the chesterfield re-upholstered in grey felt though Smile

zisforzebra · 30/09/2010 10:00

She was amazing. The house was gorgeous, so much nicer than last week's which cost three times as much. You could tell it was so full of heart and love. Last week's just seemed to be a monument to 'look how clever we are' but didn't seem to have any soul.

My favourite houses are always the ones that have been made with a bit more creativity like the strawbale ones or the guy who made his out of wood and clay in the middle of a forest.

MrsNorthman · 30/09/2010 13:22

Thought her architect and builders were fantastic. She did comment that she hoped they didn't feel sorry for her, but she was such a nice lady, how could you not feel compassion for her.

Very sad. I hope she is doing well and enjoys her nights in with all her mates.

Bramshott · 30/09/2010 13:35

She was an amazing woman and it was such a great house.

SummerRain · 30/09/2010 13:38

OMG... i clicked thinking it was a general chat thread and didn't expect that Shock

I had to Sky+ last night's as there was a council of war parents association meeting at the school last night

FlyMeToDunoon · 30/09/2010 13:43

Did they actually say at all how much it had cost in the end? The initial amount was £200000 [surely not including land?] so I expect it must have been less.
Agree it was a great template for family homes.
