Brace yourselves for a treat, ladies (and some gentlemen, too, of course), when Dr Handsome strips off and dives into the ocean to help rescue a drowning passenger in the latest episode of this hugely successful Robinson Crusoe for our times. Never mind the plot, get a look at that torso! But just in case we should run off with the idea that Dr Handsome (Matthew Fox) is little more than a sex object, we also learn, in flashback, that he's tormented by a difficult relationship with his father. And we find out just why he was on that plane from Australia to America. The doc is obviously a troubled man, and his repeated glimpses of a strange figure lead him deeper into the heart of darkness. It's all very silly, if involving in a daft kind of way. But why does Lost have to be so humourless?

I was watching a Paul Newman film in early hours the other night and had advert breaks but with little or no adverts just trailers. Guess advertisers don't want to pay for time at 2 AM

I've only seen the first couple of episodes as I was on holiday and haven't had time to watch the rest yet (how did I manage before Sky+?)

One thing I noticed - the doctor character said his name was John first and then said it was Jack - is this relevant to the plot?

i have decided to start taping it on thursday & after on e4 then watching it on saturday night, then i can get rid of all those adverts which are so annoying.

We snip the ads too - LOVE our DVD recorder

but we don't know if was definately jacks dads body in the coffin do we? we don't know if it was allowed on the plane.

I just used the stopwatch on my mobile on E4 edition and the prog lasted for

40 minutes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was with stopping each time for adverts

I could have recorded it on DVD recorder but wanted to watch it live IYSWIM

And there were 2 black out screens which means in USA there are 2 more advert breaks

each episode on the dvds i have are 42mins long- i watched the whole series in 3 nights..

Yes it is shocking isn't it

DH managed to go downstairs and get the cats in and feed them during one advert break

I am sure there are other things that may be more exciting during the 5 minute advert break than feeding the cats
