Hi

Havent bothered to name change.

Ds has severe adhd and has been on meds since the age of 8.He is now 14
Since the age of 11 he started to self harm, but not on a daily basis, when he gets really stressed anxious.
He was refered back to CAHMS last year as he had a few self harm episodes, he was then diagnosed with anxiety and OCD.

My question is I am trying to put everything in place for him to get support, school, gp, mentor, school councillor etc but he has had not had any sort of therapy..only a one off session at CAHMS..what else can they do to help him?

thx

my ds started drinking calpol from the bottle saying it made him good! only came to light after i found a new bottle bought the day before empty as i had replaced the one i had found empty in the cuboard thought i must have used it all up and forgot. its so hard to get these kids help why? you would think with the nhs and all these so call charities for children out there some one would actually step in and help but it seems they only help at arms lengh from the saftey of a telephone line. i know my ds doesnt like talking about his feelings and i think this is because even though he has said things before to peo[le like camhs they have taken no notice of him and he has just given up now. i know what you are saying "took the pain away"i cant seem to get help for my own ds so i dont know what to suggest to you to help but i just want you to know you are not alone and hope someone will come along to help you both through this time. thinking of you.

dd (13)got therapy for ocd through cahms which was ok as far as it went- but we then went private- 6 sessions, £50 a time, but different girl.
Definitely try gp again.
