DD has had crop tops and recently I even found some that did up at the back and were therefore more like a bra. The M&S brand Little Angels seems very 'moulded of cup'! she'd prefer something more structured than a crop top but n t with poppy out cups!

Any ideas?

I took my daughter to M&S for her first bra. I wanted to start her off with the idea that you don't get stuck in a rut when bra buying and just pick them up off the shelves or buy what you had last time.

I have enormous boobs so wanted to instill in her that being measured everytime is a good idea.

So off we went to M&S and I bought five or six in various colours so she felt she could chose rather than just have one or two white ones.

We now go every six months and buy six more and check the sizing. She has changed size every time.

I also thought it was important that she got used to a stranger measuring her and not something to be embarrassed about.

She is now 15 and takes it in her stride but we now go to La Senza, not M&S.

Tesco have half price offers on those teen bras - although if she does have 'boob' of any degree I think a good bra from debenhams and M&S is neccesary.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/02/2010 19:57

The Angel range also do non padded bras, which are very simple and definitely a step up from the crop top.

We have recently gone down this route and are appalled at the number of bras aimed at teens and almost teen that are padded.

What's that all about?

Finbar · 01/02/2010 21:40

DD is 11 ! so I def don't want that whole padded /underwired thing - like Rather Be - I wonder what all that is about?

I agree with all that padding stuff, what is it all about?? But M and S now do some really pretty unpadded bras, eg red; grey with red stars; I found them on line and ordered that way as it was a big muddle in store. DD is nearly 12 and they are perfect.

TheFirstLady · 01/02/2010 22:01

The moulded ones are what they want when they get to secondary school as they tend to get paranoid about visible nipples at that point. Understandably, I think.

valleyqueen · 01/02/2010 23:08

My dd finds the Marks ones the most comfy. She loves the colours. And patterns in New Look but every bloomin one is padded why why why?

deaddei · 04/02/2010 21:15

I did a thread like this last year, and was concerned about dd (12 at the time) having padded cups. But actually it does help with the nipple thing as Firstlady says, and as long as they fit properly, are fine.
They shouldn't wear underwired until they're older.

My 17yo DD seems to have shares in La Senza looking at how many bras she buys - lol

Danthe4th · 12/02/2010 19:43

I did an online order with m&s for practically every teen bra they do so we had a huge trying on session at home, we had great fun and ended up with 6 bras that my daughter loves, she is very fussy and we struggled to find any in the shops.
Totally recommend online as its free returns and m&s never seem to have the range in stock in the store, I had no idea they did so many.

Can I get on board this thread? DD is 11 and has been wearing a bra for about 3 months. She has been wearing some of those cheap Tesco teen bras but now she has started developing quite prominent nipples and they are showing through her school shirt. any suggestions would be helpful

optimisticmumma · 26/02/2010 21:43

Try sloggi - cotton, white, not padded cups A - C and perfect for up to about 13/14. Girls aren't supposed to have underwiring apparently until much older - fine if you child has the cup sizes above. My DD is big boobed like me and we have found M and S T shirt bras and (more expensively) Freya are a good fit.

Krystalmum · 07/02/2011 15:08

I'm exasperated!
My 11 yr DD has just been fitted again at M&S she's no longer a 32AA,has prgressed to a 34 with a "c" cup. However she's not ready for a "moulded" cup she felt very self concious when trying one out.Why oh Why does the "Little Angels" range not go up to a "c"?
Why do they not have pretty printed ,non mmoulded, soft seamed bras for a 34 c size??
I tried John Lewis,no good
Debenhams,nope...
can anyone suggest any other brand?Shop?
She's popping out her old ones!!
Thanks to anyone who may have a solution?

onceamai · 09/02/2011 04:13

Have a look at the cheaper every day bras in M&S - the ones that come in the boxes. They do some really pretty, non padded, non wired, simple bras in the the bigger cup sizes.

PS: DD is 12 and a 34b/c and this has worked for us and she loves them. About 12 pounds each.
