My DD (11)is going to the cinema with her friend on Sat, I will be shoppng in the same place while they are in there. She wants to go to Claires after to spend some birthday money and then to New Look, she wants to go alone with friend so I agreed to go for a coffee (and cake of course) in Costa so they can shop.

A friend thinks this is too much too young,I don't know anyone with kids my DDs age so some advice on how you started the giving more freedom thing would be very much appreciated.

She is year 6 and sometimes I worry she has a very old head on young shoulders so I do trust her. She already walks home from school and let's her self in until I get home about 1 hour later.

I am so determined to let her grow sensibly to be honest I was an over paranoid parent until a relative had a word with me about it a few years ago. I will if course be sitting in costa tomorrow worrying but the important thing is not to pass this on to DD.

Omg just had a horrible thought will they be able to see a 12a without me. I can borrow my 16 year old cousin if need be will they allow this? Or will I end up sitting alone watching st trinians 2. I do hope not!

Ah. re: a 12a. A friend has 2 daughters, 12 and 16. Cinema wouldn't let 16yr old accompany her sister for a 12a, even though they charge for an adult price ticket at 16...

valleyqueen · 29/01/2010 19:37

So I may possibly end up watching it. Damn I was going to shoe shop, I will hang around and if they don't get in a will buy a ticket but nit sit with them.

If they can't go in alone, you'll have to buy ticket & go in, then walk out 5 mins later & go for coffee etc.

valleyqueen · 29/01/2010 22:04

I will probably end up leaving St Trinians really will not make for a good Saturday.

Just looked at St Trinians cos I had the same sinking feeling and it is a PG - will that be ok for going in alone??

TheFirstLady · 30/01/2010 00:31

My DD and her friends had no problem going alone to St Trinian's. She is 12 and doesn't look any older, nor do her friends.

valleyqueen · 30/01/2010 08:47

Yay no pink a PG is fine to go alone. Phewww.

Now to get through today without any dramas, thanks people you are all so helpful.
