What do we do for DD's 18th? She will probably share with another and we'd like the total budget not to exceed about £500.00 if poss.
something different? She wants a soft play area or some other unusual thing. Our house not suitable for an at home.
any ideas?

your 18 year old wants a soft play area??

TeenageWildlife · 04/12/2009 11:34

Yeah, sort of a "Retro" thing - with alcohol. Or something unusual.they are all turning 18 and apparently the parties are getting a bit samey.

Not sure you could hire a soft play, but you should be able to get a bouncy castle in a hall somewhere. Or is there a dry ski slope that does sledging?

TBH not sure either of those would be a good combination with alcohol.

mumblechum · 04/12/2009 12:09

When is it? If summer you could hire a bouncy castle, bungey run, inflatable gladiator thingummies, or have a funfair theme. I was thinking of doing this a few years back for ds, hiring the school hall with a field out the back for all the stuff

Riverboat party? We're near the Thames and there are lots of party boats which do disco, buffet etc. I think they're quite expensive, though.

TeenageWildlife · 05/12/2009 10:09

I organised a riverboat for my niece - not my budget and it came in at £6k, so we won't be doing that - it was lovely though.

It's early April, so don't want to plan too much of a summery event...

indoor skate park.

TeenageWildlife · 05/12/2009 14:20

That suggestion was met with horror - she is a terrible skater... I like the idea though, but she would be on her arse the whole time.

She discussed the roller blading with someone who went to one and TWO people broke a leg.

Some soft play places do hire out to adults. My local one does corporate nights, team building etc.

mumblechum · 06/12/2009 14:50

How about laserquest? They're usually in a building with ten pin bowling, and have a sort of restaurant, ie mcD's type place.

TeenageWildlife · 06/12/2009 18:14

No laser quest near us at all...

go carting

mumeeee · 07/12/2009 14:02

For my kids 18th I take them and a friend to a musical in London and we stay for a couple of days so they can shop, sight see etc. They organise any other party themselves.

mumeeee · 07/12/2009 14:02

Oh and we do got out for a family meal.

TeenageWildlife · 07/12/2009 14:05

I routinely take my children to west end shows and she's in London all the time with friends, so that would be special for me but not her. thanks for suggestion.
must have a look at the go carting though...
