Ds1 even

I can now hear him and Dh arguing over this upstairs, this is going to be a painful week I feel.

MamaG · 11/11/2009 19:04

DH has got this game and has been playing it. I just asked him about this - he said there is a horrific scene were 100s of civilians are executed at an airport, with lots of blood and gore. NO WAY! Even he said it was too much (and he's 39!)

I wouldn't, no. 18 ratings are there for a reason.

DP and I watched with slack-jawed amazement when the couple in front of us in an electrical shop bought GTA Liberty City for their son, who, unless he was afflicted with an anti-aging condition and was really 18, couldn't have been more than 11 or 12. It was all I could do not to tap the dad on the shoulder and ask him if he had ever played the game and knew of the content. I was also a bit annoyed that the sales assistant didn't question it too, after all, they would in a supermarket if you were openly buying alcohol for a child of this age.

DS finished MW2 this evening and says the 18 rating was right. He says he did find bits of it disturbing (his word) as it's of course pro-active, not the same as watching a film at all.

Green monkies, yes you do have a point, they should ask the parents and get them to sign something to say that no child under 18 will play it. But if you have no morals in the first place then how can you teach it to your kids.
Call of duty should have been about killing alien monsters...showing people is just a step TOO far.

pointydogg · 11/11/2009 21:10

No.

Easy for me to say because there is no way my 13 yr old would want this sort of crap.

mimsum · 11/11/2009 22:26

well ... I've spoken to his best friend's mum who is also standing firm so there'll be at least 2 of them without it ...

ds did try to say that they'd only play online and not play the game itself but I'm still saying no

however, things weren't helped by ds2 cheerily saying that one of his friends had played it and said it wasn't that bad - he's only just 9 FGS ....

Got it, it's not gonna turn them into serial killers for goodness sake, they know it's not real, you have to credit them with some intelligence, they know the difference between life and ficticious games. Plus, it's a small part of their lives which should be varied, active and healthy, not games, games, games.

Everyone else is getting it - . Yeah right.

Keep saying no. That 18 certification is there for good reason.
