She is devestated as absolutely all her friends have. I have told her it is normal not to have done. She has asked if I will take her to the docs, but I have explained that there isn't anything he can or will do. Any suggestions of how I can help her through this.

I was almost 14 and my Mum was 17. I was slim, Mum was very slim, not skinny though.

I would love to be able to say I'd not started mine until I was 17...I mean, do any of us envisage 35 to 45 years of monthly bleeds, leaks, inconvenience, painful tummies, mood swings, acne once a month ~ the list is endless.

Tell your Dd that she isa lucky girl at this stage and to make the most of it. Bless her.

yep dd1 now wishes they never started at all lol

My dd is nearly 14, quite well developed but hasn't started yet - she is a bit unhappy abut it, but she's not alone - I just keep telling her it will happen sooner or later. Not very helpful - but there really isn;t much else you can say!

GoppingOtter · 26/10/2009 23:53

solo i agree

i try to tell dd and luckily she is a happy go lucky girl and laughs at it

i really do believe she will blossom soon and have boobs and bleeds - i had thought she would be 14 not 15 + but no sweat

she is well and happy

odd though as my boys were much earlier with puberty

dd was pretty flat chested at 14 iirc, but then i am not exactly blessed in that department

hers appeared out of nowhere a year or so later and now she is way bigger than me , 36c when she was measured a couple of weeks ago

Thank you everybody for your experiences. I will give it a year, and if nothing then I will take her to the doctors. I think that being as I didn't experience late periods, I was beginning to think there might be something wrong. Having said that, I have told her that there is a huge amount of years to be having periods and that she should cherish her freedom whilst she has it.

Just to let all you lovely people who answered my op know, my dd started her period today. She is over the moon, although I can't think why myself .
