My 19 year old has ben using her Passport for age ID. That is usually fine. But we want to go on holday in a few weeks and she has lost her Passport before. So we have] asked her to let us have it for a few weeks and to use a citizen ID card. This card has a Pass Logo on it. It is an official police proved card. She is refusing to give us her passport and says that nightclubs won't take the citezen card. Is she right?
We will let her have her passport back afte the holiday and she then can keep it for ever.

driving licence, passport, or card with a pass id on it are the general accepted id.
the pass cards can be faked though, but in general there shouldnt be a problem. ring them!

mumeeee · 15/05/2009 13:12

I've tried to ring but can't get through. She is adament that most places she goes to won't take the card.I think she is just being awkward becuase she thinks we are treating her like a child. It wouldn't be a problem if she never loses things but she does.

Well, sorry, but she's an adult and she's entitled to hang on to her passport. Shouldn't you be treating her like an adult rather than a child by now? If she loses the passport, she'll miss out on the holiday. Her problem.

Pimmpom · 15/05/2009 15:50

I would be the same as you mumeeee - adult or not I would not want a lost passport just before a holiday. Too easy just to say "her problem". Thinking about it, I wouldn't even trust DH on a night out with it

bogwobbit · 15/05/2009 15:59

I think it depends on where she's going. I know that my dd says that clubs in some areas will accept pass cards (in Scotland = Young Scot Card) but not in other places, particularly bigger cities.

smurfgirl · 15/05/2009 16:05

Where I live they only accept passpports or driving licenses, can she get a provisional driving license?

lottiebunny · 15/05/2009 16:16

The problem with a lot of the Pass cards is that mostly they don't look too professional which makes a lot of bouncers distrust them. I've seen people turned away with some of them. Never had a problem with my driving licence.

mumeeee · 15/05/2009 23:09

Creative Zen yes we could say it's her Problem if she loses it. But this holiday is the last one we will have together with her and DD3 before she goes to uni and we will lose a lot of money if she loses it and is unable to come. Also she has actually asked us to look after it before because she has been afraid she will lose it.

Oh she has now decided to give us her Passport. So problem over. She will get it back straight after the holiday and we will never ask for it again. I did manage to get in touch with a couple of clubs one will accept the citizens card and the other one said they are to easy to fake so won't accept them. She can get a provisional lisense if she needs ID before July but I don't think she'll bother.

Glad that problem is resolved mumeeee. Enjoy your family holiday!

LollipopViolet · 20/05/2009 22:59

I use my Provisional and I'm 19. Everywhere accepts those. The only problem is my eyesight's too bad for me to upgrade it to a pink licence so I applied for it purely for ID purposes.
