Reminder application that lets you remind your family to do things??

Hello,
I am looking at building an online "reminder application" that allows me to enter in regular reminders. The thinking behind it is that I am very forgetful and am forever losing track of when I last did things like defrost the freezer, turn the mattress and other regular but infrequent household chores. I thought wouldn't it be nice to have an online app that reminds me by text or email to do these things at a specified interval e.g. in 6 months it sends me a reminder to defrost the freezer, and in 8 months to bleed my radiators? It could also be used to help your kids when they're at university e.g. you could set up a monthly reminder texted to them, to change their bedsheets!!
What do people think? I am trying to decide whether its worth creating a rough-and-ready just for my own use, or whether its worth building something that I can then offer to others. If such an application existed, would any of you use it? If so how much would you pay for it - £10 / £20 one-off fee? £2 a month? Any feedback would be much appreciated!!
Many thanks
Chestnutlady

you can get a similar function from emails and calanders already.

Most mobile phones have alerts too. But if you give me a list of dates and your details, I'll happily do it for, ooooh, say £10 per month? (Tis very techical you know! )

Thanks for the sarcasm rhubarb ;)
That aside, I know you can currently get calendars and email and phone reminders set up but I was thinking more of pre-configured with all your usual household tasks - doesn't require any set up. From both of your responses though I am guessing it doesn't sound that useful to others... aah well! thanks for the feedback

Google calander is good. I use it for loads of stuff - short and long term.
