Hi all

My eldest will be 13 next month, and I have no idea what to do to celebrate!?

he wouldn't like a big party,so was thinking of something with a few close friends ?

he says cinema and food, but he can do that any time

wanted something more "special"

what have you all done your sons first teenage bday ?!

Activities type day - rock climbing/canoeing/off road bikes or similar?

PrimulaVeris · 27/04/2009 16:01

Paintballing? Legal minimum age is 12 - v.expensive though (my ds wanted this for his 10th so I investigated. Some his his friends older brothers have done it and raved about it)

Oh can I hang out here for tips too please, DS1 going to be 13 in a few weeks and we are trying to work out what to do for him, he also said no to a big party (is it a boy thing?)

Thought about paint ball but have DS8 so he is too young, also thought bowling, partytank, thorpe park, go karts.

Will lerk now for really good idea, then tell DS1 I have thought of something really cool

For ds's 13th I booked a couple of sessions (kayaking and raft building/half drowning) at a local watersports centre followed by a meal in the cafe there.

For 14th organised, at the same place, a massive supersoaker party for 20, where they all ended up jumping in the Thames and had a fab time. Health and safety? shmelth and shafety.

If you're anywhere near a big theme park, that would go down well.

Otherwise, if paintballing's too expensive (and it's about £200 for 8 kids), a lot of the p/ball places now do laserquest as well which is much much cheaper but apparently a lot of fun.

ds (12) has been to 3 paintball parties this year and has raved about them - so much so that he's already asked for a paintball party for his next birthday

he also went go-karting on holiday a couple of weeks ago and thought that was 'well wicked' so if you have somewhere nearby that does that then it might be worth considering (expensive though ..)

Due you live anywhere near a Lazor Zone? This is like paintballing but with laser guns.
Problem with paintballing is the minimum age is usually 13 which excludes younger bro and some friends. I suspect some parents must lie about ages but I won't.
We've also done ice skating.

tbh I go along with what he wants.
You can make the cinema specialby booking premier seats and eat somewhere you wouldn't normally.
he might want to do laserquest, paintballing etc next year!
why make life hard for yourself and it is his birthday after all
