have you got a pen?

this is a daily question before going to school - followed by ds going and frantically looking

every
fucking

day

poppy34 · 16/03/2009 18:51

yes for the reasons plumprump says

poppy34 · 16/03/2009 18:52

but custardo do you not think its worth it for the look you get - a bit like in cartoons when the cartoon animals fall off a cliff...

Tortington · 17/03/2009 08:07

this morning he has a pen - but made toast becuase he didn't want to wash a bowl.

so i made him make his sisters breakfast too.

i might make im make me a brew too

notsoclever · 17/03/2009 09:50

Yeah, and girls..

My dreamy 16 y.o. dd wanders around in the morning singing and straightening her hair.

Conversation goes like this:

Notsoclever: Come on you'll be late
dd: OK
Notsoclever: Are you ready?
dd: Yeah
Notsoclever: What about your shoes?
dd (looks down at feet): Oh (rushes back upstairs to get shoes).

Perhaps I forgot to teach her that she has needed shoes to go to school every day for the past 11 years!

Nine o'clock last night:

ds1-have you washed my games kit?
me- was it in your laundry bin (having made a stance over the weekend re washing only being done if placed in laundry bin)
ds1- no.
me- where is it?
ds1 looks around, mystified. spies games kit in bag in middle of hall floor. kicks it in direction of kitchen.
ds1- by washing machine!! (injured tone)
me- hmm. will do it overnight and leave on hall radiator.put it in machine.

This morning:
Ds1- where is games kit? (standing next to hall radiator)
me- is on radiator.
ds1- no it isn.....oh. is still wet!
me- tough.
(injured expression from ds1. also huffing noises)

I think they have no sense of urgency so nothing matters enough to make an effort for. So they ask you to do it.

Have no experience, but did recently read vv interesting book about the way teenagers' brains are physically remodeled during adolescence and how this causes, well, what you're all saying!

the only thing I can remember is that it was a female writer popularising Simon Baron-Cohen's work, nothing useful like author or title. But I am exceedingly pg and exceedingly hot which is almost as bad for the brain as being 16 again

noddyholder · 17/03/2009 12:18

Have you done your teeth
yeah
But the toothpaste and toothbrush are bone dry
Oh
have you got keys
Yeah
4o'clock Banging on door to get in

HecatesTwopenceworth · 17/03/2009 12:22

yes.

did you not read your own title?

Teen.
Boy.

The male of the species (where's my socks - in the drawer - which one - the top one - whereabouts - left hand side - no they're not - what's THIS THEN? )
meets
adolesence (you all hate me don't tell me what to do I'm not listening to you hurumph.)

There's no hope at all.

I'm not sure my teenaged DS ever had sense in the first place.

2shoes · 18/03/2009 10:27

my 17yr old son is the same, his job is to empty kitchen bin when full. he spent ages saturday trying to squeeze his rubbish in then when he couldnt get it in he left it on the floor!

i waited till he got back upstairs then shouted bin needs emptying, he started having a go at me for not telling him when he was downstairs in the kitchen next to the bin!
