Spot cream for teenagers

My teenage son, so far, has good clear skin but unfortunately has a lone persistent infected spot on his nose. The problem doesn't warrant a visit to the GP though.

Any recommendations for an over-the-counter cream or alternative treatments that will clear it effectively?

Many thanks.

my son had probs until he started using the Anthony Logistics range.
The face wash is brilliant - really brilliant and although it is pricey it lasts for ages.

If it's infected it might need some fucidin cream, but I think you do need a prescription. Quinoderm is excellent for the odd hormonal spot though.

Try tea tree oil (available as a cream at Holland & Barrett), applied at least 3 - 4 times a day, including last thing at night and as soon as he's washed his face in the morning. And once it's started to heal, aloe vera gel to reduce scarring (also avail. at H&B; I don't work for them, and you can probably get similar stuff at Boots, Lloyds and other pharmacies of repute).

Well, it works for me.

sudocreme (sp!)..you know the baby bottom stuff...it works wonders..my teenage DD uses it for the odd spot that might appear.....it will clear it up..and tell him whenever he feels like there might be one starting then put it on overnight and it shouldn't develop any further.

Anything with Benzoyl peroxide in ,you can get gels, creams and washes over the counter-for mild acne.

Thank you everyone. That's really helpful.

My DD had a persistent spot on her forehead. She eventually decided to squeeze it & quickly realised it was more than a spot! Trip to GP confirmed impetigo and needed antibiotics.

GP's don't mind seeing spots, as long as you book in advance & don't claim an emergency slot!
