Anonymously, I mean, so they think that someone fancies them?

No.

PuppyMonkey · 13/02/2009 12:37

This happened a lot when I was little (my friends' families, not me) and I used to think - wtf? It is soooooo unnecessary. Think of the credit cruch...

TheThoughtPolice · 13/02/2009 12:38

Nope, it is a weird practice

Cies · 13/02/2009 12:39

I find this really weird. It's just a ploy to get us to buy more crap. RESIST

AMumInScotland · 13/02/2009 12:48

Lord no! If they believe it, they'll then make decisions based on it, and if they don't believe it, then it's just weird and embarassing.

helena99 · 13/02/2009 12:48

How did your friends know, Puppy, if it was done anonymously?

MIL used to do this for my two DDs, until DP told her to stop being so bloody weird!

LoveMyLapTop · 13/02/2009 12:50

No
How bizarre

PuppyMonkey · 13/02/2009 12:52

You could tell by the handwriting and when confronted, the parents would admit it!

helena99 · 13/02/2009 12:55

The parents used their own handwriting!? ROFL - that's a bit of a giveaway!

Pimmpom · 13/02/2009 13:09

Nooooo.... bad enough when they have real admirers don't rush it!

helena99 · 13/02/2009 18:04

I went down town this afternoon to get DH's card. Apart from the usual cards from husband / wife / boyfriend / girlfriend, I am astounded that you can buy Valentine cards:

from parents to kids (HSM!)
from kid to parents and
from your cat!!

my dad always sent me a valentine card - I think until I got married. I mean who wants to be the only girl to not get a card? Always made me feel a bit better - even when I was old enough to realise it was from him, my friends didn't have to know and I could make out loads of boys fancied me. May be a self esteem thing, but I still appreciated and have every intention of doing it for my daughter when shes old enough.

Lins75 · 15/02/2009 15:52

lol, no. I send one to my 13 year old but I sign it 'Mom' and my stepkids don't need any more cards. They get plenty.

helena99 · 15/02/2009 18:46

I have sent cards to DD in the past to boost her confidence but I decided in the end not to send one to DS as he already has far too much confidence. It's a good thing I didn't, because apparently sending cards is so last century - they do texts instead these days!

once, to try and boost their confidence - which it did. Won't do it again, though.
