DD wants a decent necklace for Christmas.

Apart from a laptop, which we are deferring until I get a new job. DD wants a white gold necklace as a main present for Christmas. I've seen a lovely one just under £100. She is 14, I suppose they carry expensive phones/Ipods so I should get her it.

Waffling but what main presents are your teenagers getting?

would she really know the differencebetween slver and white gold? I don't mean lie to her i just mean would she really value it differently? she could have loads of necklaces and earings for £100 if silver

Yes, she has already given me an idea and its white gold she wants. Still not sure if she should have something that expensive. She has promised she will cherish it.

i guess the trouble is if she gets that sort of thing aged 14 wat will you be getting her thats special for aged 16, 18 etc?

christmaseve · 02/12/2008 14:39

Never thought about this. She has just started taking a interest in jewellery and has only had cheap stuff before. May have to consider this. Hard to know what to buy at this age.

This is pretty.

You can get some nice stylish cheap white gold necklaces from H Samuel.

Bexi, I like that one. Going to H Samuel tomorrow, perhaps I can get something a bit cheaper as a compromise.

Try Gerald Online

You certainly don't need to spend £100 on one.

take a look at the pendants and necklaces here

Some on Tesco here.

Mmm... I have to say that I think if your budget for a christmas gift is £100, then buy her the white gold necklace she wants. Just because you can get something cheaper, doesn't mean you have to? I don't really understand what's wrong with buying her white gold if she wants it - I assume she understands that for the same price she could buy a necklace in silver for every day of the week and two for weekends but she's made this choice?

Obviously, if your budget waws £50 then you need to find a compromise either on quality, material or size that will fit your budget.

Lots of suggestions thanks, I've printed a few for her to look at so hopefully I won't get it wrong!
