would they like roughing it? i.e. camping, in charge of their own fires and cooking etc.,?

Tortington · 05/11/2008 12:59

they would love it

i dont right mind it myself - but would need something interesting and time filling every day.

would ideally like it to be abroad.

christywhisty · 05/11/2008 13:30

centerparcs in Netherlands, they are much better value than the UK ones and lots of activities during the day.

Safari.

Not cheap, but doesn't have to be hugely expensive. We were doing stuff all of the time, and we all absolutely loved it!

jumpingbeans · 05/11/2008 14:35

custardo, bloddy hell i can't link
Look on first choice all inc, dominican,Bhai prinicple resorts, theres quite a few and they are very, very good.

Took mine to Lykia World in Turkey this year and they loved it - especially dd (15). It was definitely their best holiday ever but I cannot afford it for next year. Have just booked all inclusive to the Caribbean and it is cheaper than Lykia World

Some years ago we did mobile home holiday in south of france with other family and teens (and smaller child). Teens went off to pool, bars etc by themselves most of day/evening and there was stuff for younger one to do.

Was a bit squashed in the mobile home but not too bad. Could do barbeques outside, go to beach. was also relatively cheap. You could do a combination of mobile home/ready put up tent thing.

Also have hired villas in Portugal/France with pool and taken teens. That was ok but could have been nearer to night life for them to go out on own in eves. They had to stay at villa, play cards, drink beer, watch tv, play football, swim etc. Also relatively cheap but involves lots of cooking! Have done it in one big villa and also two properties between two families, then can farm teens out to different places overnight.

My parents took me inter railing from Sweden to Greece when I was 14. It was brilliant.

mumeeee · 05/11/2008 22:21

I agree with you Christiewhisty. Yhe centre parks in the netherlands are great. We have been a couple of times and the teenagers have found plenty to do.

HotFlush · 05/11/2008 23:24

You could have a look at Neilson.co.uk They do active holidays all over the place.

We have holidayed with them for 6 years and they're great for children of all ages, including the teens.

Tortington · 06/11/2008 10:17

looked on lykia

looked great except that it ould have been 12k for 10 of us.

loked on neilson - that appeals to me a lot atually - but again 901 in may EACH!

i usually do keycamps ( everyholiday infact) and so this sounds really expensive. is it?

am just going to look up the dominican republic all inclusive

any more suggestions welcome.

especially activity type holidays like neilson.

I don't have teens; mine are 8 & 10, but we went here, and we had a lovely time;

www.eurocamp.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=campsites.resortoverview&mastercode=864&ver=1

Good points;
hot, sunny, lots of interesting pools (one slide thingy), good supermarket, beach 5 mins drive, site 1 hr drive from Pisa airport. Fun (not tacky) pool side entertainment; lots of organised teen swimming pool games (high season) Nice on site restaurants. Good kids club for 6 year old. (If you go Key camp or Eurocamp) I think Canvas do one too.

Down side:
Nearest town quite a long way. Nearest attractions quite a long way away.

Depends what lights your fire really!

Pimmpom · 07/11/2008 12:07

If the teenagers aren't used to going All Inclusive, I think they would enjoy the novelty. There are loads of AI's in Turkey. Haven't been to these but Hemera in Side and Belcekiz Beach in Olu Deniz get great reviews.

There would be lots of cheaper options as well.

cazzzz · 13/11/2008 10:11

I haven't done this ...but want to...
there is a cycle path that runs all the way along the Danube River (Lots of european countries)... have no idea if this would appeal to teens or not, but it looks great

RTKangaMummy · 13/11/2008 10:31

We are going with DS aged 13 to the Maldives for Christmas & New Year.

We have been all over the world and IMHO the south hempisphere has loads to offer

Australia & New Zealand & South Pacific Islands are our favourite and if you are looking at next summer the flights are quite cheap. There is loads and loads to do there too.
