When they go abroad without you

Eldest daughter soon going on first girls holiday (age 18) and youngest daughter off on school trip to Germany.

Two main questions -

  1. tips for keeping safe for the eldest- we’ve already discussed drink spiking, emergency numbers, suncream etc but what might I not have thought of that was useful for your teens?
  1. how best to give them non-cash funds? We personally use a Halifax clarity card abroad due to no transaction fees and best exchange rates but what’s the best equivalent for kids?

TIA

Monzo card. And Monzo kids card for the younger one.

Condoms
Don't drink and swim
Drink spiking
Don't do things that would invalidate the travel insurance - check what it covers as regards water sports. Lots exclude things like para scending.
Don't leave a friend on their own. This one can be tricky if there's one in the group who's not a team player.

Lol mine were in dorms so a door wedge would've been pretty unpopular

The portable charger is good though

Mine too most of the time, occasionally she splashed out on a room to herself!

Thank you everyone. Some of that we’d covered but plenty of useful tips we hadn’t thought of!

EHIC card.
Travel insurance including gadget cover for their phone.
Small first aid kit.

Why would they need condoms

Goodness me, did you get stuck into the last century?

Aids were around then too.

And all kinds of the dreaded lurgy of STI's

This is useful. DC17 about to go. Why can’t they use debit card?

They normal charge a fee per transaction

Oh. One for me to note for myself. Just use my card normally.

As @JustForAMomentLetsBeStillsaid don’t be a dickhead on balconies. When my 18 year old son went on a holiday with his mates I made him promise me he’d tie a rope around his waist if he went for a drunken cigarette.

Oh talk about just selecting part of my sentence to take out of context FFS

Try quoting the WHOLE comment and you will see the irony

Just use starling revolut or monzo for avoiding fees
