I’m looking for reassurance. 16 year old son doesnt seem to eat as many snacks as aboit 6 months ago. He has had a growth spurt and grown almost 10cm in last year. Hes looking quite skinny and in the charts hes dropped a percentile. Is this normal and his appetite sbd weight not caught up yet?

I only have a dd. She has an ED. As long as he isn’t purposely restricting his intake, it could be completely natural. So, if he has always eaten well, does he currently eat that same variety of foods? Is he following any clean living rules or purposely cutting out certain types of foods? Those are potential red flags.

My dd, who has just finished A levels has a lot of male friends. Some are quite slim. I’m sure you know the process of putting on weight before a growth spurt and that it’s particularly prevalent in boys. And lots of boys are quite slight at 16. What then happens in the wake of the current trend for working out, is that they discover the gym and bulk out. And your ds wouldn’t be ‘abnormal’ if he doesn’t discover the gym either.

Males continue to accumulate body mass into theirs 20s, so he has a lot of growing to do and may raven again for his next growth spurt.

Thanks, hes not avoiding specific foods, just generally eating less. For example a year ago he’d have 4 weetabix as a snack, but now he doesn’t snack at all.
