My DS is 17 and has a job interview with Footlocker this week. Does anyone have experience of this store and can advise what to wear?
My DH says chinos and a polo shirt, my DS says grey jeans and a black T-shirt.

Not that company but ds same age wore school trousers (not worn since end y11 but looking still fit) short sleeved knitted top from next with collar and old school shoes. Said others were all in short sleeve shirts or other smart tops and school trousers/chinos. One turned up in jeans and tshirt looking out of place. Ds got thd job.

my teenage daughter didn’t get one of the highers choices and has been assigned the back up, a course she hated last year. She’s really upset. They have said they’ll put her as a back up. Unfortunately she doesn’t know what course she wants to do at uni but we had a lot of tears with the other course. She is doing are and this other what is see as vocational so not sure it would count very well to higher academic courses. She’s an A student so I’m v surprised she has been bumped to this other course. Anyone had this and know what options we have?

@Anyonegotacluewhattheirjobsabout I suggest you start a new thread to get good advice? Try the secondary/ higher ed board

When you move your post, you need to include further info eg what school year is DD, the fact that you are in Scotland, and what subjects you are talking about.

What do Footlocker staff wear?

I'd be thinking it's a no to jeans. Google tells me that whilst 'athletic wear' is okay it's a no to denim.

School trousers and a T Shirt (plain rather than a logo'd/slogan/picture one)
Chinos and T Shirt? So a compromise!

Definitely no hat!

I always think smarter is better. Clean is also very important.

Most important is the attitude/personality of the 17 year old. No mumbling /speaking into their boots. I used to interview quite a lot of teens in a past life and the amount who slouched in the chair, had their beany hat pulled down over their ears, mumbled, or just shrugged their shoulders was unbelievable.

Agree with DH. It’s smart/casual. Although it’s a sports shop, for an interview he still needs to look presentable.

Thanks everyone!

An interview ought to look like you've 'made and effort' - so a step smarter than he would be wearing to work.

Your dh's advice, or the advice about school trousers is sound.

Whenever in doubt, it is always better to be the one person who looks smarter than the others, than the one person who looks scruffier than the others.
