Struggling with my son to get him to lock into revision. Am I over thinking this or should I be enforcing it? I don’t remember doing alot if any revision for my mocks.
he is predicted 7s and 8s in all subjects.

he does homework but revision on top just feels like an awful lot.

any other mums going through the same with their teens?

Dd hardly revised at all for GCSE mocks. She’s a bit of last minute artist. She’s revising loads at the last minute for her actual A levels and did the same for her GCSEs. Not ideal, but it is what it is. Idk your ds’s personality. Sometimes you have to let them tank their mocks.

The more seriously they take end y10 exams the better placed they are for y11.
They will have resources created, and know what methods and timetable works for them.
Better to learn now than y11.

Yes its all very well.in theory saying make them do it, bribes, threats, confiscatimg screens but you could chain them to the books and if they are not mentally committed it won't be effective. I say this as a secondary teacher of long experience and parent to two teens. It has to.come from.them and if, worst case scenario they dont get what they need, there's college and resits and online courses. My dd just cannot 'lock.in' at certain times of day no matter how much she wants to. Fortunately she's bright with a decent memory so she'll probably do ok but its hard to watch her. I've tried so many different approaches but you just cant force it.
