my ds is 16 and i got really good advice last year and lots of help in enroolling him in college i took a break because the negative replies got too much

it’s a btec level 3 course sports and he seemed to be doing well and was going everyday and was much happier. but recently he just seems down and won’t get out of bed

i’ve got a 2 month old baby so can’t drag him out of bed all week he just kept saying he had stomach ache
he did actually vomit monday but we’ve all been unwell but since then he’s not seemed unwell at all

he told me tonight he’s dropping out of college but wants to join the army and i’m just like how can he join the army if he can’t complete his course. it’s more commitment etc

just needed a rant i don’t want him messing his future up 😩😩

I mean, the army is pretty much the specialist in training up young men who lack motivation/discipline/direction etc.

So just because he is struggling with college, doesn't mean the army won't work.

My partner's family is quite a "military family" with her uncle and multiple cousins all having worked and had various roles in the armed forces. It has been a great career for them, and worked out well for them.

Obviously there is the risk of war and conflict to consider, but outside of those periods, personally I've heard far more positive stories about how it has turned the lives of young men (and women) around, than negative stories.

It doesn't seem like a bad time either. Yes, we have a couple of global conflicts, but thankfully we also seem to have a government who is not excitedly joining in, and instead actively refusing America's pressure.. so that is a good sign.

You never know, it might be exactly what you needs, and you might look back in a few years time at your focused/disciplined young man and be proud of what happened...

Sounds like it might work well for him.
