The next step for problem skin

Hi all,
DD16 is upset about her skin. Normal I know. It’s not bad acne in my opinion, but spotty. We’ve all been there, it can get better, but it’s starting to affect her not wanting to go out. I’ve got a doctors appointment next week. We’ve tried few creams which either work for a few weeks, or dry her out. What is the next step? Tablets? Or the pill? Definitely not got a boyfriend or anything close, so I’m asking purely for skin care steps. Roaccutane is too much isn’t it? Any advice?

Thr gp should be able to prescribe different creams/gels. I find differn gel very effective. I was also prescribed a low dose of an antibiotic which cleared mine.

dermalogica special cleansing gel every day without fail. If she wears make up, double cleanse.
this sorted out my daughter’s skin beautifully.

Hi! 22 here who had acne since I was 15.

My acne was hormonal related (PCOS). If periods are normal that’s probably not the cause but if she has any of the symptoms it’s worth asking for a hormone level test as it could be the cause.

For many years I was on a solution called Zineryt. It’s an anti biotic solution you put on your skin and it helped mine so much! Eventually I moved onto anti biotics (limecycline) when zineryt stopped working for me as it is obviously an anti biotic and my acne was hormone fed.

I ended up getting a referral to dermatology and I’m now on Tretinoin 0.025% and Spironolactone.

However there are lots of steps before I got to that.
Id recommend La Roche Posay. It’s a great skincare brand, slightly on the more expensive side but often on 3 for 2 at boots.

Zineryt was a great start for me. Took a bit for results but made a huge difference.
Ive had years of acne problems and my skin has cleared up now. Lots of trial and error. Mine was hormone fed however so I’d see if that is playing a role first. Anymore questions just ask!!

Acne is usually a symptom of a gut imbalance. Improving gut health made a huge difference to my sons skin.
also topical b3 drops worked really well too.

I really struggled with acne previously and also had a time where I was on tretinoin but as the above posted said that really is the last straw.
try following Dr Sam Bunting, she’s a Harley street dermatologist and has some really useful information on her site and on her Instagram
