I'm moreso curious about how you taught them about spirits and when they moved on from beer, winer and cider

I was allowed a small glass of wine (mixed with some lemonade) with Sunday lunch on occasions, from about aged 14. I can safely say, I haven't turned into an alcoholic! I have a small glass of wine on a Friday night, but the reality is, I could go months without alcohol, as an adult. My son is 14, and he shows no interest in alcohol, and I'm not pushing it. My FIL is an alcoholic and so is my husband's cousin, so I suspect my son who has heard the latest dramas from both, is wary of alcohol, and is very much aware of the dangers.

So weird but I had this and nothing has ever tasted as good as that glass of no doubt cheap wine with lemonade with a roast dinner 😜

I went to uni with a few who have never had alcohol before, they were the ones getting their stomachs pumped in freshers week.

my 16 year old can have a beer on a special occasion, which is the only time the adults in our family really drink.

@WillowkinsYes. I agree with that. My DDs didn’t like to see others very drunk so limited their intake. In the end they didn’t want to be around drunk people either so friends were more like them. Have a drink and not go mad! Stay safe at all times.

That's what I see from the studies and scientific literature. But the MN response is that you should teach them to drink at home or they'll go off the rails at university.

Ours didn’t. Neither are keen on spirits.
