Braces / Invisalign for teenagers

My kids both have straight ish teeth and neither was eligible for NHS braces. However, as my 16 year old gets older the front teeth are starting to overlap a bit, and my 17 year old has short/uneven length teeth which would benefit from a bit of help.

I intend to ask the dentist about paid for braces or Invisalign options when we go next, as I’d like then to go into adulthood with really good gnashers. Any idea if this is possible and what the cost is likely to be for fairly basic tooth movement?

My 14yo’s aligners were £4k. (Suresmile, same thing)

They have been incredible. She is nearly at the end of her 14months. Regular braces would have taken about 12months and we would have got them on the NHS.

Dont get one quote, get several. Make sure it’s a comprehensive plan, and is the retainers included?
We were offered Invisalign for £6k with tooth extraction from our regular ortho. Didn’t seem in line with prices from others. We researched and checked out other places. We actually decided on an ortho who is highly skilled in both Invisalign and Suresmile and trains others in the UK. And no, she didn’t need tooth extraction. At first I was adamant on Invisalign but I learnt this is a brand thing.

i also found in support groups many adults would say teens wouldn’t be any good with aligners. Within time I realised my daughter was better than many adults 🤣 She can get a little lazy though, but the regular visits to the ortho makes sure she stays on top of it all or she gets a warning from him 🤣

With aligners they need to be removed every drink and meal, and brushing is essential after. This can be a bit annoying out and about, but a few months in, and my daughter didn’t mind and is a ninja taking them out before meals out .

she had an overbite - that’s been corrected. The plan was to add elastics but as progress has gone on she’s has never needed them. Her teeth were squint and needed spread out.

Damon clear braces (clear train tracks with white wires) £5k. My daughter’s teeth are perfect now and she never qualified for nhs. The orthodontist gave her an attachment for her phone so she could upload scans of her mouth fortnightly which reduced the number of visits.
