Are sixth form colleges as strict as high schools are about pulling a child out for holidays?

To those that answered my question, thank you. To those who saw my question as a chance to judge, or as a chance to jump to conclusions so you had an opportunity to feel better about yourselves, I hope things get better for you, I genuinely do.

@LemonTraybake , 6th form attendance isn't reported to the DfE. Let the form tutor know that week that he won't be in, it will be recorded as unauthorised.

your dc doesn’t want to be in college and you have different priorities, i wonder if the two are linked.

No i would not let my dc have time off for a holiday, it’s not even two years, ever session matters. It’s not a joke, it’s the rest of their lives that could be affected by a grade or 2

Your comment that he’s more interested in living like a millionaire than earning it makes it even more important to not let him think it’s ok to skip class for pleasure. He needs to learn work ethics

The snark in that post! 😂
Hope everything keeps fine for you, op.
Looks like there are real problems ahead.

@Annascaul Thanks hun, I’ll contemplate my future problems poolside, with cocktail in hand, having ruined my son’s life by pulling him out of college 3 days before Christmas break.

@JoyousPinkPeer you were bothered enough to post though, hey?

I wouldn't. In my son's six form they can cover a topic in one lesson and it will not be repeated. My son missed 2 days for hospital appointments and then spent his weekend reading up on the topic in the website set up by and college and completing missed work. They can also refuse a child going into year 13 if the work is not up to scratch or they have unauthorised absences . 3 days may not seem alot but it is when they miss whole topics which won't be covered again it's not like high school

Also if your child dosent care about sixth form chances are they won't engage in class. This just happened in one of my sons classes. Child didn't care and sient his days on his phone or not engaging. This child has now been kicked of the course and the college. Sixth form is not like school, if you don't engage you are out.

Not really sure why you’re asking OP. You’ve clearly decided it’s fine to take him out of college for a holiday so just do it.
Personally, I don’t agree. A levels are important and you’re devaluing his education. He’s only got two years at most left of restricted holiday times (unless he becomes a teacher himself of course!).

I have for a day when all other dc had inset - the difference in price is astounding but not sure I would do longer
