Social media over 13

Mainly Tiktok, I've seen some dubious and worrying posts from a 15 year old girl (same school as DS). Clearly her parents are unaware what is being posted, is it best to report it via Tiktok?
I don't understand the 13 year old rule, surely it should be banned unless 16 or over as there are still so many risks.

I would flag it up with the school Designated Safeguarding Lead.

The age cutoff for Internet things was 13 when I was 13, over two decades ago. It was due to some US law or other. You would have thought it would have been updated since, now that we know more about the dangers of the Internet and take safeguarding in general so much more seriously than we used to.

It amazes me than we (rightly) have all sorts of safeguards for physical settings where adults and children interact and these just go out of the window online. Imagine if Tiktok was a real-life social club with adults and children talking face-to-face: of course there would be more stringent safeguarding rules!

You need to report this to her school - they will have a named safeguarding lead - or ask your childs tutor.

I have reported similar concerns to school before about a child I didn't know - things they were saying in a whatsapp group.

It's madness how a clearly underage child can post sexualised images and videos and it not be flagged.
