My 13yo games and gets very cross at a game (I.e. FiFA) when game play isn't going his way. "Ref is blind, that wasn't a foul, etc)

Shouting at the ref like you would watching the TV.

He can get cross playing with others while chatting on the phone but not so much at them still at game play

Anyone in the same boat

I think it's too much, I get passion and it's all encompassing but reallllyyyyyyy...

My husband can get like this. However, I've had to have strong words with DH about this because obviously it's not on in front of the kids.

Especially with fifa, it's simply not real. The ref isn't "blind"... he's pixels on a screen covering something mapped out and pre-programmed. Unless they programmed the ref to deliberately be inaccurate, he cannot be "blind" or inaccurate. It's not live sport with human error, I'm afraid.

When my son was 12 he broke his foot from kicking the wall while playing fortnight.

He wound up in cast for months as he just could not stay off his feet for it to heal.

Unfortunately, because of his injury he was unable to play football in the spring.

I think that was a turning point for him. It drove home that actions have consequences. We also involved a therapist to help him with coping skills/ anger management.

We severely limited his gaming time and got him involved in activities that did not center on gaming

He is 17 now and is pretty decent at self regulation.

Hmm - I have a teenage son who plays video games a lot, but I would be very worried if he was behaving as you describe. It's supposed to be fun.

Exactly that's what I say to him

They are programmed to be not necessarily innacurate but to have a margin of error, you always used to be able to modify the strictness in the settings.

And if you are playing online, it is live sport. Except people can be even more invested.

This is where it shows human error vs how the game should be played, that said I usually play call of duty zombies and at times it can glitch but majority of the time its correct
