Learning how to recognise Grooming

My dds are 12 and 14 and they don't seem to have been taught anything about this.

They have the online safety talks but don't seem to mention real life grooming.

I'm talking Rochdale, Rotherham etc Grooming scale.

I know it's up to us parents to speak to our kids and know where they are but I wondered if anyone's school has ever discussed it?

Thinking about it secondary school might even be too late for some kids.

It's part of the PHSE curriculum where we are.

The council also sets up a presentation about knife crime, drugs, grooming (more the county lines scenario etc). They have various people give talks, including police, running through scenarios, where to ask for help etc.

I used to teach a very basic lesson on this in Year 5 ( I’ve moved down school now) it followed on from people might not be who they are on the internet.
It Was very basic though just the concept that sometimes new people seem to do nice things for you or buy you nice presents but actually they aren’t nice.
I would have thought it is covered again in secondary school.

Maybe it will be done later in the year.
