Teenage friendship problems

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has some sage advice. My 17 year old daughter struggles to keep friendships. She is on her fourth group of friends at school now but one of the group has turned and has started to leave her out and make horrible comments. My daughter isn’t entirely innocent as she does say things back. I don’t know what to do to help her. Any sage advice from other parents would be greatly appreciated.

I would say that this is a pattern of behaviour that you need to get to the root of. She's either being singled out and bullied or she's contributing to the breakdown of the friendships.

Does she do any out of school activities? The emphasis is then on what they're doing, along with low-key social interaction. Healthier than the usual focus on friendships which understandably feel intensely important and can go wrong.
It also gives her something that is independent of whatever difficulties happen at school.

Thanks , yes I agree completely. I am just not sure how to get to the bottom of it x

Yes, she goes to ambulance cadets. She also has friends at work but she’s a swimming teacher so not it’s quite an individual job.
